Moving BCU?
So, I made the mistake of not centering my BCU in my base, and now I cant place planters on my front porch as "the dome" doesnt reach my porch. Now i'm trying to move it, but it seems I would have to delete my BCU to move it. What happens if I delete it, can I replace it quickly, or will it mess up my base?

You can do this anytime ... without messing yo your base. If you have multiple BCUs ... make sure that you don't disconnect one by moving one too far out of range (blue placement sphere).

To answer your question you should simply build a second BCU where you need it and leave the first alone. Deleting BCU's is a completely unnecessary endeavor.

I think its also worth mentioning that items likes fridges etc get attached to a certain BCU once installed. If that BCU is deleted and no other BCU is present (in range) the fridge will have to be deleted as well as it will not attach to the next BCU built. I have learned this the hard way.
The author of this thread has indicated that this post answers the original topic.

Well, I guess I know what my next project is now! Thanks for the feedback.

not necessarily unnecessary for instance I am building a distant base and I tossed up the walls not thinking of design and turned out my wall I put it on is right in the way so sometimes it is necessary if a wall needs moving.
OK I know this has been mentioned but this is a good reason why the BCU should either be allowed to be moved or removed totally? I wanted to change the wall position that I had stupidly put in the wrong spot when I set up a quickie base. Never expected to expand it but decided to expand it I did later and when I went to move the wall the BCU now just hangs in space

It shouldn't make a difference if it's moved or not why that is the only item that can't be moved not sure why that decision was made but it should be allowed to at least move it so as people change their bases around they can move the BCU as needed so it isn't just left hanging in the air. I had to put a half wall vertical just to make it look sort of reasonable not that I wanted the wall there and thankfully it just caught the edge of the wall to look good enough but should be allowed to move it or at least remove it if the wall is removed so players can place it in a new spot!

Since it's one of the two items that can't be moved there must be a good reason. It might be technical or by design but we can only speculate on the why.

but there should be some way to remove it or move it rather then having it just hang there in mid air like that. I can't see that the coding to move it would be any different then anything else in the game.

You can indeed move it. Just delete the old one, you'll get half the resources back, then place a new one where you want it. BCU is pretty inexpensive, so this is a reasonable option. I did this with hunters enabled, you will get the 'hunters will move in' notice after placing the new BCU, but it does not seem to affect any existing hunter bases at all.

I'll try that and see as didn't think of deleting it only moving it.

Update: Thanks that worked now can remove that half wall

The only reason I can think of after 4 years of requesting is that the BCU is a Base identifier (just a guess)? I am still baffled as to why it cannot be relocated instead of having to be deleted and a new one installed.

CG, can you please answer this and give us some understanding as to why the BCU is special and cannot simply be moved from one spot to another inside the same base area?

yeah cause it could still be relocated within a set area meaning can't be any further then X amount of distance form it's original spot so the base would still need to be in this location but set to anywhere inside a circle set up when first laid down sort of thing.

But at least it can be removed

Wait, i thought we CANT link BCUs anymore, we'd have to go with a range extender? I thought that was changed a long time ago?
