Modes boxes/bags (not the locked ones) spawn in groups of 5 all in fairly close proximity. Nails are most often in the wooden box loot table. Cover more ground and try locations with mostly bare ground such as the NE side of the map. I can typically open about 25-40 each ingame day if that's all I'm doing so not sure why you're having issues.
In hard core they spawn in groups of two with far less in each.
I am finding boxes, just ammo boxes everywhere, Only 1 wood crate with nails, all are either food or ammo,
Also is there a way to craft nails or only loot? Because base building is going to be hell with this nail issue
if you have just started playing the beginning is the hardest part to get established but once you got a basic building up it starts to get a lil easier with finding loot.
hope this helps
good luck
Yeah literally after I made this post I got a box with like 20 nails in it, as if to say "liar, you got nails here!" Now I need scrap metal again lol. Man the grind is real!
thx
After playing Korean games like Black Desert Online I do t find this a grind at all!
I think it's how you go about it. If you set out with a goal of collecting some amount a specific mat then that indeed becomes a grind. If you go about each day focused on survival and varying how you spend your time then things like picking plants and looting boxes become ancilliary and you'll find eventually you have more of everything than you can use. Doing this it isn't so much a grind.
I love BDO and Diablo3, but thats a different kind of grind. I mean finding the needed resources is grindy as sin.
I spent a 3 hour session running back and forth, and didnt get my 2x 2 fully done. I got enough ammo for world war 3
I got enough food to start a good will.
I got enough wood to keep the Playboy Mansion Bunnys happy
I finally got about 40 nails saved.
I got enough fiber its not even funny.
I have zero scrap metal.
I do understand the game is intended to be a struggle, I just think the base building aspect, which I do love, on easy, should be a bit easier to find the required resources. I hate to see normal and hard, lol
But still a fun game either way, and totally different kinda grind from BDO. BDO is awesome, i bought it when it hit NA, long before steam release
I ditched BDO when I tried to breed a tier 8 horse with stables full of 30 tier 6 and 7 horses. What an absolute waste of time and electricity auto-running horses to level them, breed them down a tier and start all over. The game is so RNG dependent it makes me cringe even thinking about it any more. But, many Asians seem to love being RNG dependent...go figure.
The thing I love about Subsistence is that there are absolutely NO 'faux' computer-bestowed skills based on experience grind. I certainly hope it stays that way.
But, nevertheless, I don't find this a grind since I don't bother entering the game with a specific goal to build something. Eventually you'll have more nails than you know what to do with if you just go about each ingame day not focusing on one specific resource.
