For gameplay purposes, since we spend a lot of time in our base and we need power constantly, the sound is a bit to loud. With 1 generator I can handle for a few minutes, with multiple it gets insane.
I don't see a Hardware store in this game anywhere.
Just some thought's about what the rest of us think.
first of all the generators should be attracting the attention of any nearby wildlife and/or hunters. they make tons of noise, and noise attracts animals and humans alike so i think it would be a natural choice to find a way to reduce this needless attention to oneself.
if the generators usage came with a slight penalty (noise attracting attention) that would be a nice little detail to add.
Cheers
Personally, I find the clinky clanky noise of the Fridge to be far more invasive of my head space than the hum of generators.
I think a better fix for this, instead of making them quieter as you add multiple generators, is to eventually work on spacial/dynamic sound. Is there a wall between you and a generator? -25% generator sound, two walls? -75% (and so forth). Did you open the door? Remove that wall sound reduction.
