I just would add that fish could be spoiled when you wait too long to collect them.
The best bear and wolf repellant might be something from under the armpits of the player.
I have been playing for a few hundred days now and CG has still not provided any washing facilities yet ;-)
if you were trying to survive you would seek to build traps eventually to supplement your activities as they are passive and work while you sleep or do other things.
Rabbit snares or bird catches would likely fall into same category rather than wasting arrows.
There is a huge lake, several small ponds, streams, and cloth from animals. Just scrub real good.
I like the fishing trap idea, the trap should be baited of course and it could actually be a way to make use of spoiled meats
Different baits (from different animals perhaps) could influence the size and number of fish caught, a few tree grubs might get you one or two small fish or one larger fish but a lump of steak or rotten meat might get you 1 - 2 larger fish but a higher chance of your trap being messed with if there is any nearby bears / wolves / cougars.
Perhaps the fish traps could require a number of elements to make it, planks and nails for making the frame, a cordage and sinew requirement for the netting, iron, copper, zinc and scrap metal requirement for making the bait can, finally a cloth and kelp requirement for camouflaging the trap.
This would require a workbench and a refinery to make it so therefore it would become a more advanced fishing option.
Traps would take damage from animals if they were to attack it and if they continued attacking - say you were lazy and did not check it at least once a day then the spoiled meat - the dead fish - would act the same if you had rotton meat bait, as in it would attract any nearby animals to it causing them to further attack the trap and damage it... Once it's damage threshold has been met it is destroyed but could be repaired with nails, planks, cordage and kelp or cloth
Yes, yes, yes... but where is the soap?
Thats where the scrubbing real good comes in. Just have to scrub that smelly bacteria off.
Don't drop the soap if there are hunters about..
