Day / Night cycle way too fast
How can i make the Days and Nights longer and the transitions between the two?

As far as I know you cannot change the Day/Night Cycle.

I dont think that is an option yet if it will be at all... not even in the console.

You can not change it.... but I love the current cycle... or just used to it ;-) LOL

i would like to see some type of slider/Adjuster so we can change it to a certain dagree not fully but only so much it still has some effect.
The author of this thread has indicated that this post answers the original topic.

I think that the problem is not exactly the duration, Glow stick provides 0 visibility and we cannot see map during night, if you allow us to create somekind of torch using, sticks, rope and Oil or something with way more visibility this would solve a lot of issues, cause it becomes almost impossible to gather resources during night without a flash light and this forces a player to stay idle on base during night, losing valuable farming time and possibly face a base multiple kill, I got engaged by 2 parties of 2 during one night (A bear saved me from the second)

not sure if this helps or not but after playing constantly for a few months i can tell you how i deal with the current cycle and perhaps it helps.

each morning i'll eat and drink what i need to to max out, then essentially i just make the absolute most of my day.

i use a drop box near the door so after completing a lap of the lake i can drop everything below the top 2 rows quickly (food/meat needs to go in the fridge obviously) then head back out for the second half of the day.

once i've got that done i have time to do a task or two... chopping wood, pearl hunting, cougar killing, chicken hunting, off-base construction...

just before sunset i return to the drop box and pick everything up and sort out my days rewards.

nights are used for crafting (usually cordage and planks, sometimes bandages, etc... ), base repair, base construction, weapon, planter/animal watering/feeding, etc...

oh and cooking... one night cycle is just enough time to cook 5 or 6 steak + eggs/tomato soups, or 3 or 4 chicken/rib dinners. start it at sunset and keep an eye on things till sunrise so nothing rots.

it takes a bit to figure out what tasks you can be doing at night but once you figure out a routine you're good to go. there's probably a ton of stuff you do during the day that you could be doing at night... which gives you much more time during the day for looting.

honestly sometimes i don't have enough to do during the day so i'll do a second lap around the lake, things have usually re-spawned by then and worst case scenario i just swim back if it gets dark (no worry of predators or falling off a cliff).

The night lasts for several minutes, and usually I do not even always have time to decompose what I have already collected during the day, and then I have to run again. Players must plan their day and night properly. And don't customize anything and that's it. You are somehow used to day and night in the real world.

As per what Critical said, after you've played long enough, you get used to the cycle. I don't have any problems with it. The time in the dark adds another challenge: make enough light sources to provide light around the base for some night-time tree chopping and defensive actions. Expanding on what ReD and others said, my few suggestions night illumination-wise would be as follows:
:knlbeggar: Make the flood light emit a wider and farther cone, or, alternatively, make a craftable spotlight, more expensive but more powerful, possibly adjustable after mounting.
:knlbeggar: Make a torch. Let the glowstick emit the same light as now, but add a torch that gives more light and is crafted from simple mats for the early game (make it extinguishable under rain for added frustration :daExecutioner:)
:knlbeggar: Make a head-strapped light or a flashlight that could be held by the second hand while wielding one-handed tools and weapons.

I will try to take some screenshots of my base at night with the floodlight system I have. I have repelled the midnight hunter raids with the configuration, as well as bagged a Moose at night near my camp.

I currently like the day/night cycle. There is enough daylight to get a lot done and the night is not too long which is good since you can't do a lot at night. Yes you can craft at night and if your base is next to water you can fish as well. You can also gather wood near your base but it is hard to see the animals so you might end up running right into a bear or wolf.

Most of the other games of this type I play have settings for the day/night cycle. But once again, not THIS game.

+1 We need settings for the day/night cycle

i kinda like the idea of a torch too, actually. itd limit what you can do at night, but the hatchet is one handed anyway, so maybe that could work into it
