rifle effective range

After a lot of testing in game I am convinced that the effective range of the rifle is too short. Especially in comparison to the other guns. I have used the .44 mag interchangeably with the rifle and see very little difference in their effective range. This is very unrealistic. I am very experienced with similar weapons in real life and I find using the rifle in the game to be very unsatisfying.

It's also extremely pitiful for a 7.62 rifle that it's modeled after... actually all firearms are laughably bad in this game. If guns were this ineffective in real life, they never would have replaced bows on the battlefield!

I don't have a problem with the other guns, just the rifle. It is just a game, I don't expect perfect realism. The other guns are reasonable enough appoximations, but comparing them to the rifle shows the rifle, within the game, to be off considerably.

Remember though that if you increase the effectiveness of the rifle, it will be that way for hunters too. I am a poor shot anyway since I can only see a dot at the end of my barrel at long range, so I am fine with the way things are.

Yes, I have had a few odd long range anomalies too, apparantly head shots also. But those experiences just deepened the mystery for me. Other than those rare occurrences the rifle seems to be completely ineffectual at ranges just a little beyond the consistently deadly range of the .44. Ranges at which I am confident that I should be hitting targets in the body 4 or 5 times, and no effect at all.
