How to Upgrade the Bow
After hearing over and over that we can upgrade the thing and failing attempt after attempt, I pinned m ears back and made it happen, however, there is an order and sequence you must follow to upgrade the bow.

Step 1 - start by placing your pistol or any other weapon on the workbench in the upgrade tab. Once it is there move to step 2.

Step 2 - Grab the pistol and drop it on top of your bow and it will switch the weapons out. Now the bow is on the workbench and can be upgraded.

As you can see I upgraded the bow twice and the effectiveness radically went up. I should be able to kill hunters pretty easily with a headshot or well-placed shot. With premium arrows, I took down a brown bear in 2 shots from a rock above him. I dropped a Level 1 wolf with one premium arrow.

One other tidbit, if you don't like to chase your chickens, create a second bow just for chicken hunting. The upgraded bow is for big game hunting or for war.

Why another bow? Just change to Small Game Arrows. The chance of a chicken staying alive is the same then as using an un-upgraded bow.

With the bow being upgraded, regular arrows are still much more powerful. Not sure that will work really.

I use a bow to catch chickens for my animal house champ. I did not clearly state that in either post. The upgraded bow kills them. regular bow only wounds from time to time so I don't have to chase them.

Weird, I never saw your original post. I had read different people saying you could upgrade the bow but could never get it to work until I just kept playing around and discovered it on my own. At any rate, two great threads.

Quick question, if you upgrade the axe, does it yield more wood or fewer hits for the same amount of logs?

No. When the bow upgrade 'trick' came out I tried upgrading all the tools and the bow for all attributes. On the bow only damage has any effect. On the axe or pickaxe none of them have any effect. Never tried the fishing rod but I can't see how any of them would have any effect...and I hate fishing.
