Depending on how much you want to move, BCUs may be cheaper. Then again, you better have plenty of elctronic parts. That's sokething you have to find so consider that in your decision making. Good luck. I moved about 100 yds once. Never do it again for over 50.
As @dominuskevin says above building a relay of BCUs to the new location is the best solution I have found.
Build new base and install required BCUs. In Single player this will of course require energy input. Either solar or gen because the second BCU doesn't generate power.
Return to old base and instal new BCUs as required. Destroy first (original) BCUs after so as to capture and energy and mass you have stored.
Walla - your new base is the primary and the old base is secondary though with proper energy input it doesn't matter which is which. Rename the bases if you wish.
I'm nearly finished with one and already working on two more. Plans for four more. Gotta keep an eye on those pesky hunters.
The best alternative I've found is editing the .sav file...but then you have to understand the structure of it, and get a little creative on how you go about it.
