As for my Co-Op, it is NOT passworded and I enjoy helping out new players (new to the game as well as new to my Co-Op)! When I'm running my game I usually hang out in one of the Discord Subsistence rooms ... all are welcome there ;)
don't think the game is easy, subsistence is hard and unforgiven.
co-op does not mean you get everything for free just so you can fight hunters
10 bases arround the map ...... those who build them worked hard for that and had nothing for free
what gives you the right to think that you can get anything for free after the others worked so hard to get all?
co-op means you do not kill each other, means no pvp, but other than that ..... means to get along with everybody, make friends, get them to trust you.
when i play co-op ..... i give anything to anybody .... as long as they give something in return, even 10 logs. i do not care what as long as i see that the guy is doing something and not asking for free stuff.
i do not try to be mean but ....... does anybody give you anything for free in real life?
and to close this monologue ...... subsistence is about survival not killing hunters ..... so survive
1. "sorry man but let me give you some intel"
No I don't think you will "Mr. 81 hours"
2. "don't think the game is easy, subsistence is hard and unforgiven."
Derrr...after 900 plus hours I know its not easy. I know this from the 100 plus posts on how hard it is at the start, a fkn grind as it were. And I think the word you were looking for was "unforgiving".
If you're gonna come after me you better know how to speak the King's Own....muppet !!!
3." co-op does not mean you get everything for free just so you can fight hunters"
I never said that, so you are just wrong in your assumption. A theme I see prevalent in your reply.
4. "what gives you the right to think that you can get anything for free after the others worked so hard to get all?
I don't think of it as a right, rather a philosophy about what co-oop should be. Those that have a trendous excess can share with those starting out so as to avoid the grind of the early game. Afterall this is co-op and not solo. Had I have complained that I started a solo game and didn't have a chainsaw and new boots, you might have a point. I hope this isn't too obscure a concept for you.
5. "subsistence is about survival not killing hunters"
I finally arrive at this little gem. Since you, Mr. 81 hours, likely haven't been involved in this game from the very start like some of us, where do you get off telling anybody what this game is or isn't. Even if I ignore the shocking ignorance of this cobbled collection of elements meant to ressemble a survival game, you clearly have no clue about the hunters role in this game...a role that is substantial and significant.
You come off like some entitled, effete, ♥♥♥♥ who would do well to put their toys back in their pram and pi$$$ off !!! When I see you involved in posts regularily and apart of this community for more than 5 minutes maybe I'll cut you some slack...but for now....on your bike son !!!
That is what caused me to password lock my co ops and play with friends/family I brought to the game. Only PvP is entirely accidental. We work together out of one base. Go as slow or as fast as we like with the progression.
My best advice bring some friends in and set up your own co op by your own rules.
Remeber my rant was based on the "unlocked" game named "Fun Friendly".
The way you play Co-Op is what I envision Co-Op to be as well.
With respect to the setting up of my own game...never ever !! I saw what it takes and forget it. No other game in my gaming history has ever required any of that nonsense. Could explain the very low rate of Co-Op play.
As for hosting your own: You no longer need to do any setup wit port forwarding etc. Just host the game and make sure the player joining your game is in your steam friends list.
Hope that helps.
so don't try to patronise me ..... you are making a fool of your self.
CG has given you the best answer .... find a friend :)) he said nothing about begging for free stuff :D
I understand you might be frustrated but do you do realize that you attitude isn't exactly encouraging to people that might help you?
You've already had one offer from [404] and you probably could have gotten that a lot sooner and avoided the frustration and ranting had you just come to the forums and asked for MP host recommendations.
You seemed to complain about every aspect of your experience including the server name instead of just bailing on that server and coming here to ask. I'd suggest taking [404] up on his offer if it's still open.
I have a tendency to partially agree with duck1098. After having joined about 8 to 10 Co-Op servers during my playing time of a bunch of hours in total, I did not stay with any of the servers for very long. I blame most of it on poor communication between the host and the invited players, especially strangers. Not one host had any sort of guidelines or instructions of their expectations
of me when I joined the server as a stranger. I was either left totally on my own or was asked to do certain things, like getting water, feeding the tomato plants on my first day there. Sometimes I had to beg for food and to be let in their base to stay warm at night. I believe that a host server should be run similar to a well run guild in other games. I now have several bases and many other structures, one of which is a Welcome Center and, yes, it does have the basic items in limited quantities to help out a new recruit, for that fact, even a brand new player. My goal is to invite players, new and vintaged if they show a desire to learn, be cooperative and follow simple guidelines, I want to be a helper, in other words run a more or less "Help Server".
HOWEVER: I will not start to invite or recruit new players unless there are some Admin Commands for the host, having the ability to secure property from destruction and thievery plus the ability to kick and/or ban a player for misbehavior.
