hunter base doors

What's the best way to break down hunter base doors these days? In the past, I would use one grenade and ax my way through the rest. I see that's not really economical anymore. I'm going to go through all of my scrap metal if I do that. What do you do? If the ax is the only good way, then I feel that the resource cost is way too high for the durability.

I'm pretty sure that the mining pick does twice the damage of the hand axe when damaging doors...

Most economical but sleep inducing: Use mining picks (takes about 1.5 picks I believe)
Somewhat economical but real time savings: Use grenades/ grenade arrows

Even tho they take some time to make, iv found the mollys are best bang for buck. Saves scrap and gun poweder if making nades, saves gears if making breaches.
The items you need to make mollys are less usefull and are much more easy to find

i use molitovs on the doors then a couple of arrow shots to finish the job

I have so much gunpowder and other mats for grenade arrows i just use them.

I use grenades cuz I don't want to stand around all day swinging a pick. I then use the hunters workbench to make 2 grenades so it ends up being cost neutral. Like Zul, mats are no issue for me as I have 10 mining drills pumping out more iron than I can use. I could have 20 but why...

I use an upgraded bow and premium arrows most of which you get back

3. Go get a snack for 15 mins or so

pickaxes dont last anymore when trying to take doors out with em - safe for the axe :D you will want to make sure you have a few pickaxes handy

I can make a laser mining drill... Keeping that in mind I would like to be able to make a Fire Axe and be able to bust through a door prompting a "Here's Johnny-like cutscene"... I don't need or want much really...

That's generally how I used to do it. But, the ax has durability now and I don't relish going through 8 scrap metals for every hunter door. I was hoping there was a better/cheaper way to do it now.

from what I have seen watching several streamers Molotov's work well. SO does the shotgun if you have the ammo to spare. Heck I saw one streamer blasting away using up some of the hundreds of 9mm rounds she had stockpiled.

I equip a pickaxe, fasten a small piece of tape to my left mouse button, get up for a few minutes until I hear the pickaxe break, replace it, re-tape my left mouse button....then profit when I hear the door break down.

If not using a Breaching charge against a wooden hunters door, the second best way (keeping cost in mind) is the use a fully upgraded Re-curve bow, a Grenade tipped arrow, followed by using 10 Premium arrows. The arrows stick in the door and are retrievable! A wooden door has 500 hit-points of resistance. The Grenade tipped arrow does 360 damage. So there are 140 hit-points of resistance left. A fully upgraded Re-curve bow and a premium arrow does 14 hit-points of damage on the door. Use 10 arrows and the door is gone, retrieve arrows and you're in.

or 2 molotovs and a quick couple of shots with either premium arrrows recovering them or normal arrows and yes an upgraded recurve bow helps so much :)
