Fuel brick vs. coal for woodburner
When this patch was first released to experimental it took 10 coal to equal one fuel brick in the wood burner. With a fuel brick costing only 10 fiber and no overhead in the way of pickaxes and scuba gear it was not worth mining coal.

Apparently CG noticed my post and now 7 coal is equal to one fuel brick. This is an improvement but still no where comes close to being as efficient as just collecting fiber and making fuel bricks with no overhead.

I'd say that to make coal worthwhile putting in to a woodburner the 7 coal would have to last about three times as long as one fuel brick. I don't think any amount of coal even as low as one is as efficient as the 10 fiber that goes into a fuel brick. I think the advantage is if it lasted far longer than the fuel brick.

How about an updated/upgrade option to the wood burner to be coal powered that lasts longer if coal is used as the fuel? Coal could last longer and produces more ash... maybe ten coal fills the unit runs 2 1/2 times longer and gives 50% more ash.

Anything would be better than what we have 10 fiber is just stupidly easy to get compared with the cost of 7 coal.

The oxygen bottles need work also, they get empty super fast. Stacking them per 5 also would be nice.

I think this would be the perfect time to add a forge where you could use the coal as the fuel and smelt ores. You could also combine them to make alloys needed for higher level items....alloys that only the forge could create. I mean we make alloy plates...then lets make the alloys first rather than how we do it now. This would provide an opportunity for players to set up secondary bases without power but still be useful refining stations.

Problem is though we defer the ability to protect our bases for quite some time. I dunno....

How abouth just having a fuel timer on the woodstove, and then make the fuelsources have different burn times. Then we dont have to baby the wood stove all the time, having the fuel capacity last the same time as 1 single day is a bit off in my mind. Maybe we could even have a pellets feeder upgrade for the oven.

Fiber - 2 min
Wood - 5 min
Coal - 15 min
Fuel brick - 20 min
Ect.

if it is a replacement for the refinery it would be a real mess in early game. You need refined metal to make the scuba gear you need to get the coal you need to run the forge. So there would need to be another way to refine that does not use coal.

No not a replacement. Just another way to refine and the only way to make alloys.

Simple reasoning dictates that a brick of grass should burn quicker than either wood or coal. Great suggestion and it give the player some options which are a welcome idea.

I also love ducks idea. In order to achieve it, we would need stone or clay wouldn't we?

Now we're talkin' OrPa !!

I like the idea of an upgrade where it can burn coal longer seems like a fair trade off
