Cougar Hunting Lodge Build
Firstly and slightly off topic - I am like most, in love with this new update. I have found it even more immersive. Its shaken things right up. I have played sporadically but had just about got to grips with the map, until the new trees! I keep finding myself turned around and have to really stop and think - I like it!

The lake, the waterfall, the stream - all look amazing but more than that offer endless possibilities for game development and direction, great job.

So, my question. I have just completed my main base, by the lake, made sure it is hunter-tight, crafted a shottie and some cartridges and chucked up my BCU. Next, I plan to run up past the waterfall and create a sort of hunter lodge for Cougar hunting (yes I am a wuss - it will be my first cougar hunting so I would prefer to err on the side of caution).

For a very basic 'safe' area, I was considering setting up just below spawn area - perhaps a 1x1 or 2 x 2 foundation, with a doorway and 1/2 wall all around. Then taking it from there and building over time. For inspiration though, I would like some cougar hunting lodge ideas, pics, suggestions, or even criticism - can the cougar jump 1/2 walls? Will it even work?

I have no experience of cougars, just the faint and distant rumble of a growl and then I turn and run in the other direction.

Now all that is about to change... Mwahahaha

Keep us posted on your efforts. I'm not quite that far in my current build as I haven't even got the BCU in my SP playthrough. I've been watching YouTube as I want to see if the hunters place differently in the new maps and where.

But I do plan on doing something similar at some point.

Our cougar outposts consist of a foundation and some stairs. Crude and risky! The cougar has ran up the stairs. And destroyed the stairs before a killshot. Your idea sounds better...

Build a 2by2 shacke with stairs than make a catwalk at the top with half cielings, pling a couger with the 9mm then from the end of the cat walk the cougar will jut stand below as you finish it off with arrows, works like a charm lol

I also put a stove out on the catwalk,so i can hunt them at nite and not frezze to death, i also try and force spawn them by hitting save quite out and come back in,lifes not far in the wilds soooo why should i be lol :steamhappy:

a 1x1 hut with three full walls and a doorway works fine. They can't get into the doorway, and if they come in from the side they conveniently stick their head through the wall and you can still shoot them.
