How to Port Forward - Players wishing to HOST
Warning: Only the host needs to do this and you are doing so at your own risk..... this message will self destruct in three seconds ....1....2....

At this time this only works if your uisng IPv4. If your ISP is set up for IPv6 it most likely will not work for now. Thanks FistMaster & Warm Fuzzies for this info.

I'm aiming to merge the co-op branch into experimental tonight. I can't guarantee I'll achieve this, but I'm currently on-track. Please try to be tolerant with technical issues. I'll try my best to assist players experiencing issues. Players wishing to host will need to port forward the steam port 27015 (you may already have this port forwarded for other games). Also please note that everything is a work in progress, so I'll be working though issues that players experience. I'll post once the build goes out. Thanks!

ColdGames is the man and is trying to get the update out soon but you might need to check a setting or two to be ready:

This port should be open already as it is required for steam use:

Required Ports for Steam
Which ports do I need to open on my router or firewall for Steam?
To log into Steam and download content:

------ > UDP 27015 through 27030 <-------
TCP 27015 through 27030

FYI - I had the test fail and it still worked. So if the test fails just try to host a game as it might work ;-)

Now let’s check if you are good to go. Anyone of these sites should tell you if you ready. Please know your IP address first:

https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/15291/windows-find-pc-ip-address

Or

Just type "what is my IP" in Google... lol :-)

Now go to one of the below sites:

http://www.portchecktool.com/
https://networkappers.com/tools/open-port-checker#.WdZctGhSyUk
http://canyouseeme.org/

If your test was successful your port is open :)

If not here is what you do it in windows 10 (older windows down below):
Source: http://www.tomshardware.com/faq/id-3114787/open-firewall-ports-windows.html

Open firewall ports in Windows 10

You can manually permit a program to access the internet by opening a firewall port. You will need to know what port it uses and the protocol to make this work.

1. Navigate to Control Panel, System and Security and Windows Firewall.
2. Select Advanced settings and highlight Inbound Rules in the left pane.
3. Right click Inbound Rules and select New Rule.
4. Add the port you need ---> 27015 <-----to open and click Next.
5. Add the protocol UDP and the port number into the next window and click Next.
6. Select Allow the connection in the next window and hit Next.
7. Select the network type as you see fit and click Next.
8. Name the rule something meaningful and click Finish.

You have now opened a firewall port in Windows 10!

@Warm Fuzzies, no you shouldn't need to forward 7777. The only one needed is the steam port 27015 UDP.

If you're port forwarding on your router/modem, make sure the IP you're forwarding to matches the ip of the computer you're hosting on. You can check this by running the Command Prompt and typing "ipconfig" on your hosting computer.

The internal ip will show as IPv4 Address, and will be something like this: 192.168.1.#

For older windows you can find the information here: https://www.solvps.com/blog/how-to-open-ports-on-windows-server-vps-or-dedicated-server/

You may need to make this change on your router and here is that info:

https://www.wikihow.com/Set-Up-Port-Forwarding-on-a-Router

_______________________________________________________________________

Please make sure you open the port/ports in your antivirus, windows firewall, windows defender, any peerblocker or add blocker software and router if you have them.

Ok now restart both your COMPUTER and ROUTER (just in case it's needed) then go back up and check to see if it works.

If all this did not work it might be your antivirus and you can look it up on their site or try here as it is where I have gone before in the past:

https://portforward.com/

________________________________________________________________________

(IF YOU’RE HAVING ISSUES YOU CAN TRY AND PORT FORWARD 27015-27030)

(OR YOU CAN TRY THESE 27014 - 27050 AS IT ALSO WORKED WHEN THE ABOVE DID NOT)

_______________________________________________________________________

IF ALL OF THIS FAILS YOU CAN TRY THE FOLLOWING:

--------------------------------- > DANGER WILL ROBINSON !!!! <-------------------------------------

Only for a few minutes you could do the following.

1) Turn off Windows firewall (and any antivirus firewall) on the computer

2) Turn off the router's firewall and try hosting the game.

Can we see your hosted game?

3) Turn on Windows firewall

Can we see your hosted game?

4) Turn on the router's firewall and turn off the windows firewall

Can we see your hosted game?

5) Turn on all the firewalls to protect your computer/network (MAYBE RUN A VIRUS SCAN TO BE SAFE)

This way you will know if it is the:

Modem/ISP/STEAM (With all firewalls off we can't see)

Computer (windows firewall on and we can't see)

Router (Router's firewall on we can't see)

This way we narrow it to one of them and can focus on getting it set up right.

I am happy this update is coming soon and will try and help CG answer your questions. I would rather he spend his time adding to the game ;-)

Sorry if it's hard to follow.... first time writing a guide.... I'm better on video.... (I think) ;-)

Hey,

I know and he just posted that he will try and get the update in experimental tonight and said port forwarding may be required... not everyone knows how:)

Your more than welcome ;-) one questioin do we need TCP or UDP or both?
ColdGames  [developer] Oct 5, 2017 @ 10:37am
I'm pretty sure only UDP (although we can test that out).

Would love to see this thread pinned

This is definitely just inbound rules and not outbound too, right?

My wife and I had a go, sitting right next to each other on the home network, and we had a hell of a time finding each other. The 'invite through Steam' option never worked, despite trying near everything we could think of, it always said the game status was unavailable. Eventually on the join screen if she keeps clicking refresh the game showing is the one I'm hosting, and she's able to get in that way.

Great, great fun though, and while the game did crash on her looking through a chest, once the connection's been made it's been pretty much smooth sailing.

@Venturai I'm glad you were able to get a game going. There is an issue that's causing only one game to ever show at a time. It's possibly something I need to configure on the steam side. I'll be working to get this fixed once I'm home from work later.
BackSeatGamer Oct 6, 2017 @ 8:45am
port forwarding does not work. followed the steps to open it on my computer and it didnt work
00 Critical Oct 6, 2017 @ 8:48am
I know✌ just test the game and see if you can host. The test failed for me but I was able to host a game last night. Are you saying that you can not host or the test failed?

Also there is an issue where steam is only showing one game at a time so your teammates might have to refresh over and over to find your game. GC knows and is working the issue. Good luck.

To be honest there should be more options for MP, like being able to join via IP address and not just having to refresh hoping to find your friends server.
Linda Oct 6, 2017 @ 10:23am
we got it to work yes tks coldgames

I think more options will come with time and is why it's on the experimental branch so we can help ColdGames work out the bugs and issues ;-)

i did all of that but my friend still cannot find my server can someone contact me to help me about this on skype or teamspeak!
00 Critical Oct 6, 2017 @ 11:37am
They might need to keep refreshing the page (keep clicking Multiplayer) until they find the game your looking for.... what is the name and I'll see if I can find it?
