Medicinal Seeds
Alright, so far after about 4 hours or so of playing non-stop, I have found 1 Medicinal Seed in regular loot crates...This seems a tad low. If this new growable crop is supposed to be a supplement, we should be finding it a little more often.

That one seed yields 8 Herbs when fully grown and harvested.

1 Seed only nets you 2 biofuel.

The one seed used up 25% of water and 38% of fertilizer from 100% on both with the growlight left on for the whole duration.

Once I manage to get my hands on 8 Medicinal Seeds, I will update this with how much water/fertilizer a full garden of them uses with the growlight left on 100% of the time.

Currently, in the time it takes the Medicinal Seeds to fully grow, I am able to reliably find 16-24 plants in the world.

If these seeds are going to be supplemental, they need to be worth it.

The only way the above is worth it, is if you consistently find 8 seeds to plant at once.

Even still, 64 Herbs still only nets you 16 biofuel, 1 short of a full generator.

I would suggest either making the seeds a little more common, changing the recipe for biofuel to only cost 3 Herbs, or slighty decreasing the resource drain per seed in the plant bed.

But I think we can extrapolate to the simple conclusion that that is not an efficient route to biofuel, right? Not even as a supplement.

Correct, in its current form, it is a horrendous route to biofuel.

I did edit the post to include that.

The only way it is remotely worth it is if you can reliably plant 8 seeds multiple times. as even a full plant bed only nets you 16 biofuel.

For a little more context of just how bad it is;

1 Animal Fat = 3 Biofuel

1 Medicinal Plant Seed = 2 Biofuel

You need to grow and harvest at least 2 Herb Plants from the Plant Bed to net the same amount of fuel.

Assuming the resource consumption of plants is linear, that would be 50% water and 64% fertilizer to make just 2 biofuel.

That would equate to about 2 canteens of water, and 96 ash...Just for 4 biofuel...

When 1 Animal Fat gives you 3...

It is entirely not worth it. It is far easier to simply collect the plants in the world and craft them to biofuel that way....and considering how easy it is to kill a level 1 Wolf....you could simply farm level 1 wolves all day, and walk away with a ton more biofuel for a lot less effort.

Exactly. The sheer pointlessness of this new ‘feature’ makes me wonder where it came from. It seems utterly out of character for CG.

well it makes up for the cut in power the generator just got. only produces 1.0 now, instead of 1.5, an cg says power is more needed now. that clear it up for u zul? makes perfect sense.

Here's my thoughts.

1) I think we should be able to extract seeds, like where do they come from anyway really? (seeds don't grow from crates, and yes I know it's a placeholder for now)

2) each seed produces 10 herbs

3) only 3 herbs needed to make 1 biofuel

Also while talking about biofuel, rabbits need to be seriously improved, I won't even bother farming them until they give at least 2 more fat (5) and 1 more cloth (4), and even then, chickens will still be far superior!

Have you checked the fat yield of a level 10 rabbit since this update happened?

I ask because CG said he had increased the amount of fat dropped.

Level 10 rabbit gives 3 fat.

I have yes, Rabbit hasn't changed at all, 2 meat, 3 cloth and 3 fat. While chickens are 2 meat, 5 feathers, 7 premium and 6 fat.
