Happy gaming, likewise!

Happy hunting, Akeel!
It's not as simple as running a calculation. The choice depends more on what mode you're playing on, what stage of the game you're in, and what you medium and long term strategy is.
I play almost exclusively on hardcore where mats are MUCH less prevelent. Consequently in the early and mid game where you don't have mats to toss in the recycler but often do have plenty of biofuel to run generators it makes much more sense to use the converter.
If you have plans for sprawling or multiple bases then again the converter makes more sense.
On my original normal mode and advanced hardcore profiles however I have a ton of mats to spare so the recycler makes sense.
I am curious though, whether mass is generated more efficiently via the fabricator with the generators running vs. dumping the biofuel into the recycler.
It's not hard to figure out though as long as you don't have solar panels, since both eat power in the process. The genny will run more than a night full and that will botch your results.
Dump biofuel in an empty generator and count what it takes to fill. Then flip on the genny and generator as fast as possible and see how much mass is created before it runs dry . Granted, the genny only puts out 1.5 and the fabricator eats 2.5 so record your power loss. Then dump the same amount of biofuel in the recycler and record how much power it eats as well.
Or maybe ColdGames will chime in and make it easy. ;) I'm guessing it's a close horse race though.
Ultimately I prefer the recycler. It generates mass instantly, and once you're well along in Normal mode, you've probably got a lot of squirreled items to feed it. I keep a storage crate full of logs next to mine. And I've got sooooo many nails, zinc ore, and electronics as well to feed it when needed.
The recycler also takes energy so you'd still have to dump biofuel in the generator.
