Ore Spawns and Hunter Loot

Are the ore spawns completely random? In my game, iron seems to be extremely rare. I find zinc, copper, and potassium easily. And neither the hunter body boxes, or the hunter base chests (which seem to have stopped filling) have ever contained iron ore in my game.

They spawn in the same general areas but it's random within that area and it's random between the ore types. Some days I have predominately iron, others days other ore.

If you relog, sometimes more than once, you will see they change around. If you want something in particular then relog a bunch of times.

Same is true with plants. For days medicinal plants were rather sparse then I relogged a few times and there was a new crop. Fiber and blueberry however seem pretty constant.

The chest in the hunter house takes time to refill... try waiting 3-5 days before hitting the same hunter base😎

Thank you for the responses Zuleica and Critical. I do wait a few days before raiding them, and that was working. The last few times they have remained empty. I have also noticed that even though there are 3 hunter bases and groups, only 1 base at a time would have items in the chest as well as some biofuel in the woodburner.

I generally wait 4-5 days, only 3 is kind of erratic. If you raid them all on the same day as I do then wait 4-5 days they should all have regenerated. I've never seen an instance where they've been left alone for 4+ days and only one had loot. They should be acting independently of each other.

My experience is that the chest, woodburner, workbench, and refinery all respawn at the same time. Don't forget to check the workbench and refinery! Generally I get shell casings from the refinery and ore and refined ore from the refinery.

I have yet to find loot in anything other than the chest and woodburner so far, and as I mentioned, thats only been one base at a time that has had loot for me. Mayhap i'll reset the hunters and see what happens. They have 2 bases built fairly close to each other. Maybe that has an effect.

When you check the workbench make sure that you check both tabs (upgrades and crafting), same for the woodburner, check for ash and for processed biofuel.

I've forced them to build nearly on top of each other and it doesn't affect the loot or how fast the loot refills. If you raid them early though it resets the regeneration timer.

Man, I've got literally hundreds of iron ore stockpiled, probably over 1,000. What I really would like is more copper. Copper is like gold to me. I've got about 20 solar panels in my current profile, aiming for 60+. Since the introduction of sinew, my solar panel crafting rate has really gone down. Seems the new patch has also limited the number of computer parts I find also. Guess I just have to grind harder, lol. Don't care much for playing with hunters, I like the feeling of isolation from other people in the wilderness. I've read that hunter bases can offer solar panels for loot though. Might try it... someday.

Solar panels from hunters are rare, much more rare than sinew from locked crates.

What in the world will you use the power from 60+ solar panels for??

If you have that much iron then refine it and make lockpicks and daily go open 3-4 locked crates. You should get plenty of sinew and even copper from those.

Yeah, lots of my ore has been refined. I always carry 2 lockpicks everywhere I go. Unfortunately, I don't find as many lockboxes as I'd like. I want 60+ panels to be able to run a mass fabricator full time and all other basic utilities without ever worrying about power. Just a silly goal of mine. Who knows what will be added later, it will make a solid foundation for new components that may have heavy power usage. My base looks kind of like a fortress anyway, may as well have to the "umph" to back up the appearance
