Question - refer .. Planter
Was there an adjustment for Sunlight on Planter that I missed ??

I just installed a 2 planter on a deck and it has full sun / nothing around it to block sunlight .. but when you check light meter the most it received during mid-day sun is only 55%, I have checked it several times during daylight.
The ONLY time it says 100% light is when the glowlight is on.

In my old game it received 55% under the deck and this game it is only showing 15% in the same spot, almost the same type of build and same location. So I put one on top of the deck thinking it would be better - but 55% is not right / can't be.

Hope you can read it .. This one should have been at least 55% .. but only showning 15% and takes over a week to grow plants without growlight.

PS: I delete the one that was on top of deck, couldn't afford 2

looks like it is under a foundation because of those posts. if that is true it maybe what is cutting down on light to the planter box

Should not be cutting it down that much .. in my normally game it's 55% and I made a mistake on my first post should be 55% same location. I just checked.
Neither here nor there, but I thought, based on your thread title, you were asking for the ability to grow MJ in the planters.. carry on.
That is correct. Can CONFIRM. Even if it is in direct sunlight. If anything is built above or close to any side it affects the amount of sunlight.
The visible sunlight is not the factor that affects the light level on planters and solar panels, it is calculated using abjects that are near them, in this case, the foundation above and the walls to the side.
And yes the railing is also part of the issue.

OK .. this is my normally game with less light and it is 55% .. So there is an issue or there was an adjustment by CG
In one of my profiles I have two garden planters right next to one another, on an outside deck. Built up objects around them (walls, railings, etc...) were symetrical to both of them, so in theory those objects would effect sunlight upon each planter in equal amounts. However, one planter would be around 35% at noon while the other would be at around 85% at noon.

Perhaps this is something CG could tweak a little bit at some time?

I Agree .. I think there is an unbalance somehow with these. I think everyone is getting something different .. But I do understand the shade and other factors, it is just somemore tweaking that is needed at some point.
I put my planter on my "roof", flat one, not angled, along with my solar panels. No issues with sunlight as there is nothing around them to impede them.

I have issues with rows of solar panels on the roof, some get 100% some only 33%, seems random.
I do not know if it matters, I aligned them all with the rising sun. I did not do that with my first one and noticed it did not get 100% sunlight, like the second one. From that point on everyone I place is aligned facing east as the sun rises for better reference. And of course there are no structures or trees in the way as I built on high ground.

I have no idea of the mechanics, as I try not to read too much about the game, but it is working for me and seems logical.

Although, ideally, they would follow the sun as it paths across the sky, using some power to do so.

I've had this issue, but only in my last completed build, after the floodlight update. And, for me, it was completely random, always at least one with less than the rest. Nothing impeding the sun.
