I am also a huge fan of mod support for games. I absolutely want to support modding, however creating the integration points, build tools and infrastructure for the developers/modders/players is a large project and will require a lot of ongoing support (at least if I want to support actual scripting, asset pipelines, etc). I have implemented some foundational steps towards this, however it's something I work on in my spare time, rather than dedicating entire development sprints to. It's currently on the roadmap as a wishlist item, but is definitely on my radar.
Good to hear and your approach is perfectly understandable.

Mods will bring this game alive imo

3 years later and no mods? hmmm what does that tell you?
that this game really is crap? no one wants to waste their time even thinking about making a mod for a crap game?? ... yeah, i want my $11 back!!
Its clearly that you dont like survival games. But pointing it out like this...
What idea did you had in mind as mod? What is this game missing so hard that it becomes crap to you?
This game dont need mods if you would ask me.

I reckon that there should be a mod that allows you to change sliders that affect your max health, fiber spawn rates, and other variables, as some people just want to play an hour or so after work, or school, or whatever. Sure, it's not in the spirit of the game, but it would make it more fun for those people.

Scuse the lateness of this reply

The game looks great as is. That said, I play very few games without mods and the modding community is great. I'm so glad mods are on your radar!

Core mechanics need to be in place before even considering workshop. Be patient, let the game develop and maybe at some point along the line workshop will be added.

If you are so desparate for workshop why not post your suggestions, if they're good they might even get put into the actual game.

Five years since this post, and somehow the core mechanics still aren't "in place".

You're not alone CG seen many developers say the same thing in other games.. Players just dont get it how much work involved to allow user generated content. and mods etc.

I'd love mods to get made for this game also.... using the bow & guns are a bit janky but I'm still new, so maybe I just need to get used to them.
Still- mods can also add great UI additions & items to the game some players would love to have (like more wildlife, other options for hunting [crossbow!], dehydration of foods, etc, etc. etc.).

I just got the game today because it looked really good. love the added NPC aspect. Now, that being said, it would be awesome to get mods or even being able to let individuals access certain things. Admin commands or such. Specifically for me? The farming is out of hand. Chopping down a tree gets you 1 log. it takes 3 logs to make planks. it takes 5 planks to make 1 foundation, amongst other materials. The amount of loot bags seems to be lacking. I actually walked quite a bit before and couldn't really find fiber or loot bags(crates). Not being able to harvest enough material is the only downside to me. If you cut down a tree, you should get waaay more than 1 log. That is the only drawback of this game to me. If they could allow adjustments in that as well as the amount of scrap iron you find, I would be ok. But as is, it's extremely hard to get any good builds in with the time it takes to harvest the material or find the material you need.

Many of us have extensive builds, but this game isn't a game that you can complete in a short amount of time. I've been playing for years and I'm still building & rebuilding. The game becomes less of a grind the longer you play and if you stay with it long enough you will find out for yourself why this is true.

you get from 3-5 logs per tree, depends on the tree, you have enough material to build whatever you want you just have to grind a bit.

Is the roadmap available for players to view, to see the direction your game may head?

Thats an interesting question because Coldgames stated twice he does not like to follow any roadmap because following a roadmap, even his own, could slow the project (we have more than seven years development) or limit his creativeness and this project is his way to escape from that "corporate culture"
