You can build additional storage containers for power/mass.
You can craft various generators for power/mass that will fill up past the 500/100 limit of the BCU's self-generation.
Adding a second BCU with overlapping blue spheres will link the 2, causing them to act as one.
Adding a second BCU separate to the first will cause the second to not self-generate and only start with a small amount of power/mass.
Storage containers and generators can be created at the second (separate) BCU to store/produce for it.
If you add external storage you will need to build generators and solar panels to fill power storage and recyclers and energy-mass converters to fill mass storage. These will also speed up the filling of BCU internal storage.
Subsequent BCUs, either linked to the first or on separate bases will come partially filled but will not generate so you need the external generation devices to fill their internal storage.
If you want to make a subsequently placed BCU the 'active' one that generates you must temporarily remove the current active BCU which will promote the next one you placed to 'active'.
If you want to build a new base at a different location then yes.
Can you give me your personals start/progression (new material, so new generator, new storage?), usually, in generators/panels/storage, to give me an idea? (i really love craft, but the electricity part seems a little too complicated for me, don't want to be a professional in electricity, lol!)
Before BCU;
Foundation,
Storage,
Walls (at least one for the BCU.
Place BCU.
After BCU;
Wood burner,
Power storage + generator,
Refinery,
Mass storage + recycler or energy-mass converter,
More power storage,
2nd generator,
Workbench,
More mass storage,
Well head,
Solar panels,
Fridge,
Grow plot,
Animal coop.
Farther down the list varies depending on your play style.
For upgrades I always go for power efficiency first.
Solar panel upgrades only after I run out of roof space.
Do all upgrades to animal coop before adding animals.
Place grow plot a block away from any walls or railings. I generally upgrade to the light so growth is faster.
Between the recycler and energy-mass converter I use the recycler in normal mode and the converter in hardcore for early game. Mid to late game I use the recycler in hardcore as I'm overflowing with unused mats.
If you need more than 500 Power, for example when upgrading weapons or building some items, then you will need to build a Power generator or solar panel to provide the extra Power.
Your BCU only stores a certain amount of Power, so if you require Power above the default limit, you'll need to build Power storage units to store the extra Power.
This process also applies for Mass, except the Mass fabricator and Mass recycler act as the generators, and you'll need to build Mass storage units to store the additional Mass.
Adding more BCU's in a large base increases the range of the original BCU, aiding in placement of floodlights or wellheads that wouldn't fit within the blue sphere of the initial BCU.
I hope this helps? :)
Thanks.
Ahhh. Ok. I wasn't sure if that's what it was or not.
Thanks, Dub!
