Rat guard in kitchen bug?

Okay, so I am loving it so far, but I think I have encountered a bug.

I entered the kitchen, stealthily, but then was detected by the guard. He begins chasing me around the kitchen. I am running and jumping all over the place as he is wacking away at me, and I turn to leave the kitchen, and suddenly he is gone. Replaced by a rat stitting at a table playing dice. No threat, it is as if in mid swing he gave up and decided dice was a better way to get me.

Anyone seen this? No dialogue, no change in story, just poof, the kitchen guard is gone, and I can now walk around and play dice.

What happened to the guard who was chasing me?

There should be two guards on the kitchen - one is the active guard that will try to kill you and the other is the gambling guard that will challenge you in a game of dice. Yes, the gambler only sits in there doing nothing even if you throw a bottle to him.

So what you are saying then is that I must have been in there being chased by the one at the exact time in the game that it switches to the other?

I will have to go back at different times and see.

No no, this happened to me as well. Basically, there's two guards already in the room, the normal guard, which you need the Guard outfit to get by. And then there's the gambler on the table, where you can try to bet to get some more money for Rolo and such.

But for some reason, if you pull the guard away from his position.. he disappears, like entirely from the game. And you can talk to the gambler normally without the guard outfit.

haha, I never even knew there was supposed to be a second rat in the kitchen

Had the same thing happen. He poofed when he tried to chase me into a back room. He eventually turned back up again many real world hours later.
