Sneaking by and Killing Spiders?
The first spider in the grand hall of the catacombs is not lured by a bottle or acorn.
Im going for the no alerts achievement so luring him to the trap with myself is not an option. Anyone done this?

Still no breakthroughs. The achievement says "guards" so i thought maybe it doesnt count but when the spider sees you it gets added under guard alerts on your statistics page.

For the second one, just use bottle on her to kill it, or at least run at full speed, she won't follow you afterward~

My problem with that is it counts as being spotted which voids that achievement. Bottles, sticks, slime jars and acorns dont lure it from its spot

I posted this on the main forum as a problem. Never mind the two spiders in that area (SPOILER-ish), there's a part later on that I seriously doubt you'd be able to do without spiders seeing you.

I wonder if we could take that as a sign that spiders dont count? Have you finished the game by chance?

I hope a developer sees this soon

Curiously, the sewer leeches are also guards. I made a save before the spiders and then continued on (so I have two times being detected from killing both spiders), so if someone doesn't beat me to the punch I'll let you know if I get the achievement.

Were you able to sneak past the second spider? I could run past it in my first playthrough, but this second time running past it (or trying to sneak past) has Tilo collapse and die without anything to suggest the spider was alerted or ran to me.

I was just doing a playthrough for this, Dodgy Mouse and Crash Diet achievements and ran into the same problem with those spiders. I actually managed to lure first one into trap with sticks (took me 3 tries), but i can't get past the second one. He either spots me no matter how well I sneak or, like in Hedrack's case, Tilo just dies randomly.

Im pretty sure i could sneak past the second spider, but its guarding the body you need so i dont know how ill get that. I made an extra save too but im gonna try a bit more. Does Tilo die like that everytime you do it now?

Interesting! Where did you throw the stick exactly? I have the stronger throw upgrade, i dont know if that gives extra distance and is messing up my throws or not. I find the aiming off.

Yeah, I stay as far to the right on the stairs as possible which worked running by on my first playthrough, but on my second playthrough Tilo just dies without any alerted state from the spider. Tried running two or three times and sneaking once.

@CowboyYojimbo: First time I threw stick to right of the spider and that got its attention, then I threw stick in front of it, next to the trap and then finally I stepped back as far as I could and threw it in front of the trap. I don't have to Strong Arm skill from Fatale yet in this playthrough. The spider rushed to it and got snapped. I managed to pull this off twice now. Still no luck with the second spider. Tilo just dies for me as well.

OKAY. So I managed to actually get past the second spider without it noticing me. It took like pretty much all of my throwable tools though (kept missing my marks) hah I reloaded the old save I made before attempting to get past the spider (I already killed the first one and then went back to beginning of catacombs and saved there) and Tilo stopped randomly dying. I got just behind that small rock on the staircase so that spider doesn't notice me (Took me a few tries to get the position just right so it doesn't see me) and then I threw a bottle at the wall in front of the spider which got its attention enough so I could move forward a bit more. It turned back around, but wasn't alert to me, so I threw another bottle in front of the corpse and that got it to move down low enough for me to run past it and to the gates.

Now I don't know how I'll deal with 3 spiders in the Lower Hall, but if I'm not mistaken they are kinda in the middle of the room and I just need a lever that's on the wall. My real issue is though, if the enemies at the end of the game count as guards because I see no way around that :')

Ah, so the spiders do count as alerts...
Explains why the achievement was nixed...

This is tricky to do then and requires cheezing the game and doing so massively for the three spiders beneath the banner, and if not them, certainly for the end game skeletons.

Perhaps the entire spider/skeleton thing is just a dev oversight?

I managed to get the first spider killed using the sticks as bait. Thank you very much for the help! I ran back and saved.
The second is definitely a pain. Theres also an acheivement for killing them all so ill keep a save here for future bottling.

EDIT: Sometimes i load and the second spider doesnt react to a single throw object. Doesnt help you have to run all the way there again while you try this.

EDIT 2: Terrific. I now have that death glitch and it wont react to anything

Okay, so I finished the game and did not get Like a Ghost. The spiders and later the skeletons count as detection. I did get Dodgy Mouse/Crash Diet but I avoided the beehives as I wasn't sure if they would cause the Dodgy Mouse achievement to fail (perhaps someone can confirm that one).

I tried dodging the three spiders in the banner room. I got past the first one, climbed the sacrophagus on my left, and then instantly died as I jumped to the next sacrophagus. So similar problems there with the spiders. As Keko was able to get by the two in the catacombs, I suspect you might be able to similarly distract these while jumping by.

I'm not sure how one would avoid the skeletons though. After the chest is opened I had one spot me within a few seconds despite running as fast as possible out of the area. And with the finale you also will be spotted by new skeletons. I also did not bother with trying to find a path to the chest area without being spotted by skeletons, so not exactly sure if such a route exists.
