[Spoilers] Gusto and Fatale

So, after a certain point Gusto and Fatale announce that it's time for them to leave. If you tell them that you need to finish something first, Gusto says that they'll be waiting in the "Abandoned chapel on the shore", but there's nothing there. They are just gone. Is this what was supposed to happen, and they just decided to bail without me, or am I missing something?
The only other option was to tell them I'm not coming with them, so I guess there's no way to break out with them afterall?

Oh yeah, I've explored the chapel a really long time ago, got some part of the ranger's (I think) set in there.

Just seems to be one of those things where something was planned, but didn't make it into the game and the original dialog wasn't changed.

You could explain it away with them deciding to stick you up at first, but yeah, I'm inclined to agree.

The only other option was to tell them I'm not coming with them, so I guess there's no way to break out with them afterall?

if you play the game to the end of your quest they will reveal themselves. Its a rather heart touching moment at the end.

Yeah, I've already finished the game and figured it out, was just trying to keep the thread relatively spoiler-free in case somebody wonders the same thing as me before getting to the very end.

Heya, i'd just like to point out that there is a letter in the chapel beside the barrel to the left.
It's signed by G&F (Gustavo & Fitale) and basically says they had to leave.

I'd also like to mention that for some reason it doesn't appear when you talk to them and go strait away to the chappel...dunno if it's a bug or intentional.

For me the letter appeared when i did some quests after talking with them and b4 going to the chappel naturally
