Sneak and Sprint functions not working
Bought and installed yesterday, worked fine. Today, load my save and neither Sneak, nor Sprint are working at all. Buttons do nothing. All other functions are fine.

Fruther, the game does not register the buttons. When I attempt to reassign the mapping, the game doesn't register the button input. Windows and other games see and use the controller fine, as did GoaT yesterday.

Any suggestions?

Hi, and thanks for your interest in Ghost of a Tale.
Can you describe here your controller, and your windows version ?

If you want to reset your prefs to start anew, please double click on the .cmd file near the game executable :
".\Steam\SteamApps\common\Ghost of a Tale\GoaT_ClearPreferences.cmd"

Hello!

Windows 10, up to date, with a Logitech F710 controller. I'll try resetting...I've not made it out of the tutorial yet, due to not being able to sneak, so no loss of progress. Thanks!

Same problem, and I bought the game today, and can't get past the first guard, so no lost progress here either..
And Im on windows 7.
I tried playin with all my controllers (have 7) including my steam controller..
On no one does the Sneak or Sprint work (L-trigger and R-Trigger). Also neither of these buttons work in menues..

I have a similar problem to this. Most of the time the sneak and sprint buttons will work, but if I load a game from a situation where those functions are unavailable (in shallow water for example) then I will continue to be unable to use the sneak and sprint keys until I restart the game (this applys to both the gamepad and keyboard controls).

Windows 10 and Xbox 360 controller

Same issue. Worked fine, then went to use Steam Link now the L R triggers don't work, either via Steam Link or on my PC directly. Both controllers are XBOX 360, PC wired, Steam Link wireless. I have reset the prefs as instructed but no joy :'(

This issue pops up for me every now and then.. I just restart the computer and then it works, even on my steam link..

so, here's what fixed this for me... (everything else did not work)

this game, for whatever reasons, seems not to like several controllers / input devices connected to the PC / steam link.

in my case, i had one xbox 360 controller connected to my steam link and another one to my PC. after realizing the buttons at the PC controller worked just fine i simply unplugged that one.

et voila... the buttons on the controller connected to the steam link suddenly worked. (i restarted the game, but i dont know if its necessary)

i'm also not sure wether it's necessary to create a controller profile for the game in steam - i did so but that alone did not help. i kept it after unplugging the one controller though and got no problems.

hopefully have fun playing now! :)

by the way: i also had freezes after dying and trying to save the game. this was caused by my anti virus software preventing the game to write in a protected folder. so if u got this problem too, make sure to create some exception rules for the game.

cheers

Four years later and using the keyboard +mouse controls I have to leave sprint and sneak on their default key settings or they won't work. You can reset sprint to R control or a ctrl key but that's it. Rather a poor show.
