walking & very slightly faster when attempting to run, I can't play this way, HELP!?

Did you get the exoskeleton? it wont let you run without servomotors upgrade from... I think its from the first technician on the Skadovsk. Need calibration tools for it too. I wont even use the ekoskel until I have everything prepared to have that upgrade within minutes of putting on the exo for the first time.
Or you're just carrying too much stuff. I find you never need more than 3 of any of the medicines besides antidote, and that carrying extra ammo reaches a point where you have TOO MUCH and it just weighs you down.
I used to try to carry a shotgun with me just for fighting the tough mutants, but that made inventory management a nightmare so I gave it up. I'd rather just run once the fight is clearly not going my way than try to carry the perfect weapon for every scenario.

Thanks , after I'd left the Skadovsk I got the ability to run, I have no knowledge of getting the exo or the tools, and it isn't always consistent. I tried to find a walkthrough or a manual/guide here without success, and now I have a much larger problem. Getting into the right shelter during a storm, in the first instance I found the right place but during a dozen or more attempts, I would always die while most of the time the other 3 stalkers who were coming to the building were surviving. Most recently I'm trying to take shelter in the waste treatment plant occupied by 15-20 bandits, finally I've killed all of them (I thought) & I'm standing in the place where they were all sitting. The storm intensifies, I die & moments later apparently one who survived walks by.

The game gives you a hard deadline to get to shelter, but I suppose the AI's get some leniency since having hundreds of bodies after every blowout would be kinda atmosphere breaking. just follow your PDA prompt about where the nearest good shelter is and STAY IN THAT YELLOW CIRCLE. God help you if you stray from that yelow circle while the blowout is still active.
But in the waste treatment plant I THINK the only 'safe' place is in the sewers underneath since all the windows/doors/etc to the building itself are WIDE open.

Or maybe he just had a silenced gun and shot you in the head whne you weren't looking?
