Video card doesn't meet requirements.... FIXED!

Hi
I have played this game before on max settings but after upgrading to windows 8 if i set the game to anything higher than static lighting it crashes on launch with the error from the title of this post.

I have a GTX 580 TI and an AMD FX-41000 overclocked to 4214 which has been running stable so far on a library of other games so while the error says its my hardware - i'm pretty sure its not. Its someting to do with the games install.

Anyone got any idea how to launch this.

EDIT:
I am now running this with full dynamic lighting DX11
What i did was change the resolution from 1600x900 to the next lower 16:9 resloution.
It now works fine (except not at my native res)

edit that's ofc a topic on the Shadow of Chernobyl forum, however they did had some solutions for it that you could try it.

Thanks for your suggestion.
It didn't really help though. I just installed SOC to test that out and it runs fine.

I have had a few launches with COP but then it now just fails. Very odd.
I really wanted to play this again after finishing Last Light :(

didn't even notice. why does it matter? I always wonder why does it matter. it's not like the issue has gone away and it's an old game. please explain.

Well all i can see is he installed an SOC Whatever that is and it failed. which is why i asked but doubt i will hear co's as matey said it's ten years old thread and apparently that matters.

no i looked there's f all there apart from does it work on windows 8. But don't worry i'll just play shadow of chernobyl which works on my steam deck .I also have a pirated install of call of pripyat that does work. yet another time buying legit harms the consumer but I tried. but feel free to enlighten me what I missed.
