Got a favorite weapons combo?
After trying a few different weapons I finaly settled on my favorite weapons combo. I couldn't find a long range, stealthy weapon for a while...tried to get by for a good while with a spec'd up Viper.....phew those were scary days....was never quite sure that I'd ever kill what I was shooting at !!! Found a 301TR ( on a merc I shot, I think)....that's a decent weapon and very accurate....but not quite specialist enough.

Finally got my hands on the Vintar BC......never looked back for long range work.......once spec'd up a bit it'll kill well and the scope is amazing. Bit dodgy for close up panicky stuff.....you know...when you thought you'd reccied the path well only to get caught in the open by something you'd missed with the bins. Although it kills well, it's expensive to run and as the Vintar only has ten rounds, it's an amzingly cool STALKER that would be happy to rely on only the ten in a close up, multiple target panic !!

Took a while to give up my sawn off...she was lovely; all spec'd up...cheap to run.....massive stopping power......very useful for very close stuff.....even bloodsuckers feel the pain. I finally earned enough rubels to ask Nimble for something 'nice'......(hey, it was my birthday!).....I was lucky enough to get a Frasier off him........totally love it for the close (even mid range) stuff.....got it spec'd to take forty rounds......phew....it kills well and now I like nothing better then to reek revenge for all those pesky dog packs !!!

That's my favorite combo now; a Vintar BC and a Frasier.......feel a little safer out there now.....only a little bit though ! I've yet to find something that might replace either but then again I've still got at least half the game to go.

So STALKERs, 'holster those weapons....what'd you think....you're hard or something' !?!. Take a moment round the fire to brag about your own weapons combo.......

IMHO in vanilla CoP, ive stuck with an mp5 (on second level of upgrades, same as all of these weps/) since the start, along with a fully loaded spas 12 (or w/e its called) and a sniper rifle which i forget the name of. and for my pistol i have one that cn be silenced as when i am clearing out buildings i like to challenge myself to use only a silenced pistol. is a bad decision more often than not but hey. thats stalker for ya. ^^ i also have a very basic and light pistol with 50 rounds at all times. for complete emergencies when i have no ammo. saved me a couple of times trust me.

Yeah man....I like that silenced pistol, person challenge thing you've got going there....very cool. You seem to be carrying a lot of kit though....is that four guns plus the ammo......at least you'll never get caught short... I take your point.

I have both my guns spec'd to the second level like you.....both silenced....I like to make as little noise as possible.....not because I'm a 'cool ghost'.....just because it freaks me out that if I make a noisey kill, it'll attract even more ♥♥♥♥ my way....and also because using guns and bullets are expensive !

Good luck out there.

Nice, Rex and Nagant is pretty fun for hunting. Good at bringing down mutants and relatively cheap cost per power of bullet ratio.

I used to use Streloks Sig that you find in Jupiter....until i found a FREE G36 from a dead Military guard at the Jupiter Plant after they ambushed me. My God, best gun in the game if you ask me. It's deadly on it's own, but then upgrade it and it's suddenly the most accurate gun in the game, aside from a sniper rifle that is. Great damage marks, too.

The only time i used a sniper rifle was at the beginning when i find a Dragonuv in a stash and use it to knock down the 30 zombies surrounding the building where the 1st set of tools are located. Never been much of a sniper guy in Stalker, and i own all 3. Always preferred assault rifles with good scopes. And whats funny is after having 100 hours logged into SoC BEFORE playing CoP, i never used the G36 simply because i thought it looked ugly as hell. Boy, was i wrong.

Okay....the G37 I've not found yet.....I'm still early in the game having only just arrived in Jupiter. I looked up the stats on the wiki and it looks a very versitile weapon. Seems like a pretty good all rounder. Personally, I think I'd miss the silencer facility and the x5 enhanced optics scope of the upgraded Vintar BC although it looks like the G37 has the Frasier over a barrel for accuracy and general mid-range work.

Nice weapon STALKER....hope it keeps you alive !

The G37 gets me through CoP on Master. I can only get it on Clear Sky by way of Wish Granter because the Bandit campaign is bugged to hell. Love it though.

90% of the time:

Viper (switched to the .45 cal version when i could afford it) for short-medium contact and an AR pimped for accuracy in the DMR role. Honestly, most of the 5.56 and 5.45 ARs have decent accuracy, esp if speced.

:mkb: Strelok's SGI-5K with a silencer, grenade launcher and 1.6-4x scope attached as an all-arounder, :shellshock: Eliminator for close range and :sniperscope: Lynx for long range, all upgraded

Very nice set up.......all top quality weapons....very nice. Still not found Strelok's gun yet......when I spoke to Nimble I ended up with the Vintar BC (spec'd up version). It'll not have the range or killing power of the Lynx but it is nice and quiet, fairly light even if I do have to get a little closer for a kill.

Always wondered about a fancy shotgun for close work........nearly went that way (after all; awesome stopping power). In the end I felt the Frasier's forty round clip and rate of fire made up for that. It's deadly in short bursts even if it is a bit more pricey to run than a shotgun.

I've got to say, I kind of like the idea of a grenade launcher attachment but I'm still only managing 50kgs and it does seem a bit OTT; being a mobile artillery piece; kind of out of character for me........if I did get one I might as well sell off my silencers ! I might make a second character (new game) and kit him out more 'storm trooper' than 'special services'.......then I'll be wanting a big noisey gun with launcher and an exoskeleton suit !

Anyway, nice set up........ and nice to get other STALKERs input.........looks like we're all ready for anything !

You get Streloks Sig for free in Jupiter if you complete a couple of minor tasks.......here's a hint, go to the most NW part of the Jupiter map...a crashed plane.

Playing Misery as a recon, my fave combo is the same as the OP: VSS Vintorez + MP5. If Im on the mood for some money grinding, I like to order both customized versions from Nimble ("Tide" and "Frazier"). Combine this with a Wind of Freedom suit fully upgraded - 4 slots and weighting around 1 kilo (!!!) - and you got a vicious recon layout.
