Arsenal Overhaul...it's awesome !

Hidy-ho Stalkers........

Just installed the Arsenal Overhaul mod......I totally recomemend it. I played the game through vanilla......then installed Complete. It's a great mod full of atmosphere and nice visuals but I couldn't find any decent compatible weapons mods, etc. to go with it.

I saw Arsenal Overhaul (which isn't compatible with Complete so I uninstalled it). AO comes with Atmosfear 3, Absolute Nature and MSO.....all excellent mods that work together really nicely.

I'm loving it.....amazing weapons selection and dynamics; even a choice of starting gear......I've found what looks like an M4 assault rifle (7.62) which covers close, mid and some long range contacts but I've also got an old 1920's MN91/30 infantryman's rifle......it's totally awesome. It only holds five rounds, very slow rate of fire (non auto) but it's soooooo accurate and kills in one (mostly) from miles away.....just like a good rifle should. It's only draw-back is (I imagine the in game scenario is) that because it's so old it can't be upgraded......still love it though and hope to finish the game with it.

Anyway Stalkers, loads of you probably already know all about the AO mod but for those that are wondering how to get a whole lot more out of their game then I totally recommend this mod for your check list......enjoy.(Also, good installation instructions....even for a computer noddy like me)

yep its a great mod my only beef is some of the merc weapons look great but you cant find ammo, but the pistols are good even if there are too many choices, my fav gun is still the gb36

Indeed, this is a great mod that I use for my not only my CoP playthroughs, but also CS playthroughs. Fingers crossed that a SoC version will come out sometime...

Yeah......I know what you mean about the ever-so-lovely guns.....but a lack of available ammo. I found an HK417 after a shoot out with some mercs.........very useful gun for long to mid range contacts and excellent killing power being loaded with a magnum cartridge; 7.62mm x 51mm. Can you get these cartidges anywhere.......well only off other mercs and Nimble sells a limited amount at a rediculiously high price.....might turn up at the traders' after I've got through the game a bit more, fingers crossed, so I stashed the HK417 and am using the M4 Bushmaster for now.......and that's a pretty good gun as well.

By contrast....the old 1920's infantryman's rifle (MN91/30) takes a 7.62mm x 54mm. It still has a better kill power than the fancy HK417.........and rounds can be found easily. The G series guns are all good but they carry 5.56.. rounds......they just cost so much to run and have only two thirds the stopping power of 7.62mm round. Even the old AK103s and AKMs kill better than the vanilla 5.56mm assault rifles just because of the size of the rounds.

Man.....just listen to me.....I sound like some sort of crazy gun freak............best time to mention that my other hobbies include gardening and model railways !!!

I installed this mod but now may game just crashes as soon as I progress anwhere near the swamps towards the Skadovsk. Did anyone else have this problem?

Those who get crash, just find the file in the logs (should be furthest down under fatal error) and replace it with an original file, for me it was deagle upgrade.

Actually, these very scenarios have been mused over in the past. In the end I felt mixing hobbies would be a bit like mixing one's drinks.......it could start off as imaginative and exciting but it's more than likely to end up look ever messy !

Secondly.......Buttery Biscuit Bass.....never had a crash so far with AO.

Hey all,

I'm looking to install Arsenal Overhaul 2.5 with Absolute Nature 3 and Atmosfear 3 but I've been having problems.

I'll start by mentioning that I have gone into the fsgame.ltx file and edited the required line to...

$game_data$ = true| true| $fs_root$|

I have also created the gamedata folder and put all of the required items into it and deleted the user.ltx and shader files, but there is no joy at all. I just keep getting the X-Ray Engine crash error.

Now I've tested Absolute Nature 3 and Atmosfear 3 and had no issues at all, but when I add the Arsenal Overhaul 2.5 it just crashes.

Anyone albe to help me out?

I got everything to load by following the author's read me file. They are very clear and reasonably straight forward to follow. He is quite specific as to the order of each installation. The mod I've got is all one package (AO, AN3 & Afear3) but, as mentioned, they have to be installed in order. It may well be that you've done that in which case I doubt I'll be of much more help since I'm far from computer savvy.
The only bit I made a mess of is the 'scopes patch'....just can't get that bit right so long range sniping has turn into a zen art on my computer...you know.....feel the force Luke; then pull the trigger. Wish I could get it sorted but as I hate doing computer dabbling, I've got to the stage were I just wear it !
Hope you can get your problem sorted. Somebody here will have a solution since there are some very clever fellows knocking about.....usually totally obscure until somebody asks for a hand.

The package is exactly the one I'm using. I've just tried it all again, following the instructions exactly, but still nothing. It's quite frustrating to be honest.
