Hey mate! :) What I did was go to the Ranger Station over and over (sleep half a day) and clear it out of the bandits, take their loot and sell the broken guns to Beard unless they were above 50% (rare) then repair it fully and sell it to Owl for far more...

Also any wild animals you see, kill them, take their parts/skins etc and sell them for a decent profit. You can also cook their meats, save on food that way too, while making profit!

Also, go to the barge at Dredge Station as soon as you can to get the Altered Wheel, take it back to Beard (by all means) to start a sequence of quests that give you far more RU per each artifact Beard is looking for as opposed to selling them normally.

Artifact hunting is generally not worth it due to how much it'll cost you to repair your equipment (unless you're really fast). You can try the easier locations such as the Claw Anomaly, has quite a few decent artifacts there, but watch out for the Mercenaries at the Wast Processing Station (nice place to clear out for cash too!).

Other than that, just following the missions also rewards you with a decent amount of RU to get you going. From there, try to save up for the Sunrise Suit to have a decent fighting chance in the zone, and I'm sure you'll be able to take it from there. If ever you happen to get spare RU, be sure to visit Nimble in Skadovsk for awesome gear, depending on your class/playing style.

And lastly, don't buy food or consumables unless you have to! Make do with what you have, focus on ammo (rather find ammo on the fallen and use their weapons in conjunction with the ammo to save). Keep your weapons/armor in mint condition, if you start dropping below 90% it'll get very costly to repair it at let’s say Cardan. But otherwise after each mission/excursion repair your equipment at a technician, it'll be relatively cheap, otherwise use repair kits for your equipment in conjunction with misc items (clothes/maps/ropes/etc) to get above 75% and then repair with RU at a technician as per normal which is the most cost effective.

Goodluck, and all of the best in your journey, STALKER!

Starting out the easiest thing to do is to follow random groups of stalkers around and let them kill animals for you, then steal the meat. If you are lucky a few of them will die so you can loot them too. I usually end up with about 20+ pieces of meat per trip. Haul all the meat back to base, buy a high quality cooker and fuel, cook all meat, sell to Beard = profit. Use the money earned to buy repair kits which you can then use to repair guns to sell to Owl.

Are there any decent stashes? I believe most of the stashes were altered in 2.1 to be pretty useless.

Besides one with the Green Dragon Sniper, and some handful weapons early on, stashes become increasingly useless because you've pretty much got all you need, all the food/meds you'd need, etc. So if you do go stash hunting, it should be in the beginning when you need it most, or when you're low on supplies (just because you found a stash doesn't mean you have to loot it, keep it until you need it, they stay on your map indefinitely, really handy).

some stashes have repair kits meds weapons and useless items to sell, its a good way to start (in dark road you get nothing but a knife and a flashlight)
money in misery is important because everything is expensive

Money becomes useless once you reach Pripyat, take it from me, who has over 400k RU and nothing to do with it.

In the beginning it will be a grind, yes, but once you've got your Sunrise Body Suit -> CS-3a Body Armor -> Exoskeleton and add a Scientific Suit for Artifact hunting and you've only got ammo to really worry about (if at all). Where RU is available spend it on the military ration packs as they're awesome and stack nicely for their weight, and give a nice satiety amount per each serving. I generally am able to one-hit kill most things with a proper aimed shot, shotgun shells I burn through quite a bit for close-combat with mutants, else knife everything else (easy as pie in an Exo suit vs most standard mutants).

So best tip I can give anyone is once you have 3-4 decent fully upgraded weapons and at least the tier 2 armour, feel free to splurge on whatever you want, go mad, don't hold back as you'll find yourself with a ton of money and weapons/ammo at the end and you didn't get to use it. I had 52 grenades at the end, quite a pity, thankfully these is free roam mode! :)
Dr. Gori 11 abr. 2014 às 18:30
^ Lol true. By the end I had 5 or 6 sniper rifles fully upgraded, loads of ammo, enough food to feed an army, extra suits, etc. Get a good weapon early and stick with it (will save you loads of money,) I got a M14 about 2 hours into the game off a Merc, repaired it and used it and a Sig P220 until my TRG-42 (by then rich enough to afford its ammo.)

Where is the Green Dragon stash, if I may ask?

Basically selling everything you don't need, make sure you are selling it to the right person, some people offer you a lot more for your goods. Kill mercs and bandits, do the hunting missions, they aren't all that hard. Do the side quests, stashes do hold good stuff in the misery mod and are worth looking for. Even if you are going to sell the stuff in it. Keep in mind to stash all the stuff you think you will want like food, meds, ammo, and weapons. I have 440000 on my character and my stash is probably worth about that mush if I sold it. You end up making money quite fast, I would suggest getting a good suit with steel plates. Always pay for your critical condition medical help especially for heavy radiation.

I don't know where the Green Dragon stash is but if you go east of the train station to the quarry, use the slanted tree on the hillside to get inside the giant diggers control booth there is a badass modded out STG that is camoflauged too.

Save all your mutant parts to sell to the scientists at the bunker. When you get a good suit and get the Oasis artifact you can sell to them.

How do I make a profit repairing stuff at over 50% condition? So far I haven't been able to find a way yet.

I've tried looking at where it was last but I can't seem to find it. Rumor has it, its either in Pripyat, or it wasn't included in this version for some reason. But fear not, as I've seen it on sale at the medic in Yanov! Just progress a bit in the game around Yanov and you'll see a ton of items being unlocked, more so when you accumulate quite a bit of RU (100k). Be sure to check out Owl at Zaton (Skadovsk) when you do unlock it!

Unless your item is at 100%, you can only sell damaged items to Beard, or Hawaai. But to repair items, you need specific kits that you can either buy (usually betwene 6k-20k) and some misc items such as cloth/rope/etc. This is generally the cheaper way up until 75%, then the rest you can repair at Cardan/Nitro etc. Once it's 100% sell it to Owl (if you're still in Zaton) for a much larger profit!
Warhawx 12 abr. 2014 às 6:31
I don't seem to be able to find an item that repairs 50%+, only 65%+

I'm a bit far from my stash to look at what percentages you can repair etc, but perhaps that's why I am always telling everyone not to go under 50%, because you can't fix it, you have to pay to repair it... Hmmm, but yes, in general, keep your equipment always above 75% so it costs dirt cheap to repair with Cardan/Nitro.

If you find repairing too expensive (it's really the only use for your money late game when you have hundreds of thousands) I can assist you in modifying prices so that repairing is far cheaper, but it will go against the challenge that is MISERY. But since I believe everyone has the right to their own choices I'm more than happy to help if you don't like something, most probably I know a fix for it! :)
