How to change FOV?
Hello, fellow mutant killers! So, I just recently got this game. I haven't played yet, but I'm preparing to freak myself out today. Anyway, I decided to do some mod research and found out the game defaults to a 55 FOV with no built in options to change it. Something lik 55 makes me feel sick after a few minutes.

Now, I will gladly tell you that I'm a serious noob when it comes to PC gaming, as I only started about a year ago. Could anybody tell me the best FOV mod out there? Additionally, I'll need detailed instructions on how to install it (folder names, where to copy paste, etc. I literally know nothing about this stuff or how to install mods as I've never done any of these things, nor do I know even the slightest thing about code. It's all just random letters/numbers/symbols to me!). I will not be using any other mods but this one, so don't worry if it's not compatible with other mods. It just needs to be compatible with the game itself and not screw anything up.

Thanks so much for your help! I'm really looking forward to playing this game, even though I'm very easily frightened. It's the first horror game that I've ever felt I just NEED to try, but increasing the FOV is a must before I do.

EDIT: I did try to figure this stuff out on my own first, but I both couldn't find detailed enough instructions, nor a source I thought seemed sufficiently trustworthy. Thus, I've come to you wonderful people for help, hat in hand, noob badge on my forehead :)

Could try this. http://www.moddb.com/mods/console-controlled-fov

when in game, hit the ~ key and type fov 85 or what ever number you want. I use 85 because it looks good for me.

Thanks so much! So, just one more thing: could you tell me where to find the bin directory? And I don't need to delete any files from that directory, just add this one?

Oh, one other thing: on the page for the mod download, it says, "Use the fov command with a value between 5 and 180 to set desirec FOV." Is that what you were saying when you said, "hit the ~ key and type fov 85," or is this a different thing I also have to do?

Heh, I told you I'm a noob :) Sorry, and thank you!

I could not figure out how to work FOV_1.7 , just from reading instructions, at first.
Take the bin and fov batch command and copy both into your main stalker directory , ie Drive Letter: ......\Steam Library\Steam apps\common\STALKER COP. You can copy right there right on top of the bin file. By on top i mean it will add the files and keep your Bin the same aside from the presets folder. Then run the command and pick a number between 54 and 58 when prompted
I don't know if you need all the fov presets or the ones for the version of stalker being used with it. ie Stalker COP is 1602 , like the version 1.6.02.

When you say, "run the command," do you mean pressing the ~ button in-game and then a little thing will pop up that allows me to enter a number? And why between 54 and 58? From what the other poster said, and from the reading I've done online, you can indeed go up to 180. Plus, if the default is 55, going up to 58 won't make any noticeable difference and it will still make me feel sick after a few minutes (85-90 is where I've found is my optimal FOV setting).

Again, apologies for my noobiness. I know how much stupid can hurt your head haha. I hope you don't end up with too much of a headache reading this...

EDIT: wait, also...you first said to copy the FOV 1.7 files into the Stalker COP folder itseld, but then said to do it in the bin folder. Do I have to put one in the main folder, and then the other in the bin folder? Or did you just mean to say put both in the bin folder only?

EDIT 2: oh god, I'm sorry, I'm so very, very sorry...buuuut...OK, I also see that there's already a file named "xrGme.dll" in the bin folder. Am I supposed to delete that one first? Or have both in there?

For ♥♥♥♥'s sake, I hate how bad I am at this. But hey, it's only because of people like you guys that I'm learning :P

U didn't understand what he meant . You don't change your fov between 54-58 . You have for eatch number between those an fov value , for example 57 has 85 fov , 58 is 90 fov (witch is max) , hope you get it now .

BUT , the main problem with this fov changer is that it crashes the game , i used it and always i get the crash error that xrRender1.dll and xrRender2.dll are not found/missing (even tho there are inside the bin folder) , i couldn't find a solution for this .
