Spatial Anomaly INSTALL
Hello, can anyone guide me on how to install this? I download the Russian version easy enough and extract the contents to my COP directory. But now I need the English translation and the ModDb page says to "Install on top". What does this mean? The same folders in the English version are way smaller in size than the Russian ones, even by a couple gigabytes. I can't seem to find any answers on Google.

Thanks.

And yes, I am apparently too dense to understand.

It's larger because all that is needed for the english files is localization. It's just translating the visual language. It doesn't need to change all the textures from russian to english textures, there's no such thing. The russian files contain the actual game files to modify the game, the translation just makes it readable.

So just drop the gamedata folders on top of each other inside the COP folder in the order you want files to be overwritten: First the base game, then the russian files, then overwriting with the english files.

Alright, thanks. For some reason, I had it in my head that moving a folder into the directory that had the same name as the other folder would overwrite THE ENTIRE folder. Idk why that was i my head but it seems to work.

Thank you!

No problem. If you're ever worried about overwriting things in the future, I suggest you check out JSGME. It's a mod loader that allows you to add and remove folders at will. Instead of directly overwriting the files, it keeps the folders in a separate location, and only adds them when you enable that mod. This means that when you disable the mods you had enabled, not only do you have a clean install of your game back for more modding, you also keep a copy of the mod for future enabling again. I used to spend literally hours redownloading the game after making a mistake with a mod and overwriting something I couldn't undo. Now I can just drop them into a mod folder and test out different combinations with no fear of hurting my game files.

Oh nice. That sounds super handy. I might be able to still use that, I saved my original gamedata folder somewhere. I feel kinda spoiled with all of these more modern games having mod managers and then trying to mod these older games. NEVER had so much trouble trying to install a mod lol. Thanks for the tip, bud!

Also, the mod is working great and is pretty good so far. It seems like my graphics options were reset and I am going through that process of tweaking the options. What are some options off the top of your head I shouldn't bother having on at all or on low that don't matter much?

I know a large impact setting is anything to do with the grass density. If you're having problems running the game, try lowering that. I've broken my game before by setting grass density too high foolishly thinking a 1660 super could handle it. It can't. Other than that, you want to watch out for the god rays and sunlight settings. Everything else is relatively low impact. The sun and grass take the biggest hits to performance in my experience.

Also EAX, depending on the mod, is broken or unsupported. If there's no mention of OpenAL or a sound fix in your mod patch notes, you don't have it. If you want to use EAX (surround sound) you need to install OpenAL surround sound and patch the game with it. It's pretty involved for a small boost but if you happen to notice flat sound, this is the answer.

If you want your old graphics settings, in the future save your user.ltx files, they contain your preset graphic/keybind/user settings and can be found in the main folder and in the appdata folder. Once you finish modding just copy those back in place and it should be fine.

Hey, thanks for the help man. I think I got it tweaked just right.

I really regret you saying anything about EAX because now that is something I have to fix LOL. But I think I found a good way to fix that haha.

Thanks again man, mod is great!
