Weapon condition in Anomaly
I have the Weapon Degradation Factor set to 0.5, because the weapons have always started jamming so ridiculously fast in STALKER games

But I have the feeling that altering this factor, and then applying Reliability upgrades to weapons, seems to make the weapons degrade faster

Am I right about this? Do weapon reliability upgrades nullify the Degradation Factor, or otherwise behave strangely when used simultaneously?

If so it's annoying because some upgrades require a tree with preceding Reliability upgrades

I just get an upgraded PP-19 Bizon and it's already at ~80% condition before even finishing clearing out the Bandit base in Dark Valley, and this is the first time I've used it. Literally just bought it from Petrenko and upgraded it before leaving Rostok

Edit: Also, this is with normal 9x18 FMJ rounds, not old ammo

i wouldn't be surprised, a lot of the upgrade trees are busted to high heaven, as are a number of the weapons' individual reliability factors
while they aren't as bad now as they were in 1.4.0 (the Mk14 EBR, among others, was infamous for literally never degrading at all), there are some outliers that have excessively low - or high - values
the pernach has an abnormally low reliability value relative to other 9x18 pistols, even including the APS which it should logically be an improvement upon

looking at both the pernach and the APS' .ltx files, the pernach has a degredation-per-shot value that is eighteen times higher than that of the APS
it wouldn't surprise me if something like the bizon was an outlier compared to other SMGs

ultimately - and saying this as somebody who's poured a lot of hours into both playing it and making a vanilla-fied soup from it - anomaly is still an unfinished mod, so there are a lot of borked values kicking about

Yeah, I don't expect a free mod of this scope and magnitude to be perfect. I just wanted to make sure I wasn't going crazy. So thanks for confirming I am indeed not crazy (you'd be the first)

I tried setting wpn_degradation to 0.1 in commandline.txt but it seems to change back to 0.5 every time I load a level/save. I even checked user.ltx and it shows the same 0.1 there so IDK what's up with that

I guess I have more of a reason now to carry grease and other things to keep the condition topped off, or I have so many rubles maybe I'll just buy another when I get tired of it and not bother upgrading it this time

Edit: Changed ui_options.script to let the scale go down to 0.1 and set it to that through the game options, now it stays at 0.1

i don't know about 'easier', but if you find any other weapons that have extremely ♥♥♥♥♥♥-up reliability values, adjusting them in the corresponding weapon.ltx file will prevent the game from resetting them on load, though admittedly how the given values relate to real-world weapon performance can be difficult to judge
The alteration I made to ui_options.script allowed me to permanently set the degradation factor to 0.1 within the game menu, which is good enough for me for now, since I'm not playing Anomaly much currently

Later on I might think of altering the weapon.ltx and figuring out how to "fix" this behavior on some weapons. But it's unlikely. More realistically I'll likely forego upgrades for the time being, until it gets fixed by someone else, or I feel like dedicating the time to doing it myself
