Personally having fun so far.
Still trying to figure out how to deal with a controller on open ground when the animation starts though. It's easy to deal with them if you spot them first and pop a psy blocker pill but man if they get you off guard and you are too close it seems like you're done. It's kinda nice that mutants are actually scary now.
Like i said , third looked quite the same and second one didn't had too many changes from the first one so i said why not? And i'm glad i did it because let's be real i wouldn't really replay this game and hop on to anomaly/gamma instead.
Not saying vanilla trilogy is unenjoyable since i quite enjoyed the first one and CS had bad sides because of all the nade spam and bad economy but i still enjoyed it. It's just that they're pretty janky and dated (honestly the whole gun accuracy thing was nuts just seeing bullets whizz around enemies even with AS VAL)
I just started playing with it... while it does change gameplay somewhat, all the changes are positive / QoL / more immersive and pretty minor. Plus the installation is very user-friendly, there is an "update" exe after you install the mod and clicking on the EXE file updates you to the 2024 version of the MOD AND allows you to add a couple of other popular mods (weather, animation, etc) to this mod without creating any conflict AND these mods also change pretty much nothing story-wise as far as I can tell.
SO, from my limited experience, I am going to say that if you are like me and only have time to play most games once, you should almost definitely play CoP with the Gunslinger mode installed.
I still have a folder in my PC that says "use these if you're gonna replay C.O.P." lol. Only downside of the mod i'd say is that they didn't change the mouse sensitivity value the original game had (handling stat affects it) it felt a bit off so i had to modify the values for that one myself. Other than that %100 recommended it modernizes the game without really touching much of it. Only negative thing is that you can't spam bandages and medkits anymore since it has an animation but you quickly get used to it and it makes it more immersive.
I agree 100%, I am about 1/2 through my first playthrough with this MOD and I am so happy with it... the fact that it includes an install program AND an update checker that downloads the latest version of both this and other compatible vanilla-enchancing (not changing) mods is just the cherry on top. Very professionally done.
Here is an installation guide i've used :
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_oDTHI_hKEY
you can find the latest version (Protecta) on the yt channel of the modder.
here
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kJEBdilioU4
the installer then asks you what you want to install, gunslinger only or with the other optional mods, English translation included.
it´s very easy and userfriendly compared to most other stalker mods.
