I'd just go with a story mod instead of playing the same game with a different coat of paint.
It doesn't to me.
One mod has a smaller scope than the other, Misery would take over nearly the whole experience. You'll have new gunplay with Misery's awful gameplay.
After playing other mods it's not that it's particularly difficult, they just made changes to things that make it result in frankly inescapable deaths far more often than the other experiences out there. Cats are 100% silent and can 1 shot you until you get a tier 2 suit and even then MOST damage you take will cause you to drop your gun. Fuuuun ~ Also grenades are active on the AI and the devs either didn't know or didn't care that grenade accuracy on the AI is tied to the stalker's accuracy, because they blanket buffed the ENTIRE NPC's accuracy across the board you will have grenades land in your lap during a full sprint repeatedly. This is all before we go into the repair mechanics and whatnot that was added by misery. It's not bad it's just the gameplay surrounding it is akin to, as I said, ball torture.
Gunslinger is .....fine. It's nice animations for SOME ( read: seriously not all ) of the weapons and items in the game and makes changes to the psy mutants. ALL of which are ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ awful and make them a chore more than a challenge, and one of them was already irritating for most first timers of the series. Enjoy instantly dying and having no defense the first couple times you run into these mutants since you won't know any better, forcing you to either cheese it or reload an earlier save before you attempted it.
My advice? Honestly use arsenal overhaul or something. More guns, better animations, none of the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥.
Like I said, try a story mod. Run around in some new maps, doing new quests, shooting new mutants etc. Tons of new and exciting experiences are available. For example, have you ever flown a helicopter in STALKER before?
Stalker Anomaly is far more forgiving than GAMMA and resources are vastly more plentiful. You can completely ignore the crafting mechanics if you desire to unlike misery where you're forced to use cooking and weapon repairing in order to survive in the first 4 - 6 hours unless you've memorized stash locations and meta game your way through it.
Stalker Anomaly is more akin to a far more balanced misery since you're not starved for missions, loot randomly generates on objects and the money reward for missions is forgiving for how many resources you actually need to progress. The gunplay is different only in that most weapons can take down almost any human targets with headshots barring using HP ammo on something with a helmet. Exosuits not included in that discussion.
The reason that was happening to you in GAMMA is that it is ( despite what Psy said ) NOT just anomaly with more additions. The game has a completely different gunplay balance. Ammo MATTERS in GAMMA, if you shoot a merc with a sphere helmet in the face 3 times with buckshot he will not go down, the game is balanced that way. It's to make people stop JUST stocking up on FMJ ( we all do it ) and clearing out hordes of enemies without breaking a sweat. In GAMMA if you want to fight high ranking STALKERS, you better bring AP or they're going to laugh as it take 8+ rounds just to make them go into the pained bleed-out state and even then they'll bandage it up, use medkits, etc just to stay in the fight. They're prepared, if you aren't you're dead.
Keep in mind, this isn't just the case for the AI. If you're wearing proper armor and some ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ decides he's going to level a 12 gauge with buckshot into your tier 3 armored plate with kevlar inserts. The only thing he'll find is an angry STALKER who now knows where he is and knows he can't hurt him. It's a level playing field.
In GAMMA you're not supposed to fight anything that you're not prepared for, in anomaly you can brute force your way through MOST problems. GAMMA will bend you over a barrel if you try it. This may not be fun for everyone, I for one adore resource management and crafting my way from rags to riches. If you want the freedom call of chernobyl gives but GAMMA was too oppressive for you, Anomaly is a great place to start. It's challenging but it won't bust your balls.
I don't like misery at all but what you said about being forced to use cooking, repairing is wrong. I finished the mod without ever cooking and never repaired anything, just bought new items, it was cheaper. I didn't know any stash locations either.
Also, both anomaly and gamma lack balance, you can still make tons of money thanks to the randomness factor you mentioned. I also didn't find gamma to be massively different when compared to anomaly, gunplay included, you can still take down anyone with any decent weapon you get.
He's never played them before and it holds true. Your second part of the discussion wasn't a consideration for the OP. You can claim it's not different but you're either from the STALKER reddit that hates any mention of GAMMA or you're being a contrarian. Help the OP don't try to start a rivalry over a mod. I'm sorry if they're not your cup of tea but that's okay. There's plenty of mods this community has made that appeal to us. I for one, actually really like both. However I also liked LURK so :P
No need to get defensive, I wasn't looking for an arguement, just saying it how it is.
You don't get it about misery, I had never played it before and still never did anything you said was mandatory. Naturally, I didn't know any stash locations either, so what you said isn't true. As for anomaly / gamma, of course I can claim they are not that different, I've seen it with my own eyes. It's not as deep as you say. Both are equally unbalanced and both have enemies you can easily take down with anything half decent.
Anyway, I'm not trying to start a rivalry over any of those three mods, because I hate all three of them :)
By the way, STALKER reddit hates gamma? Dang, there may be hope for that cesspool yet.
I know that this would sound like a child that doesn’t want to get his toy dirty, but, is there any reliable web page where to download this mods? I’ve playing the stalker saga to be more prepared with the history of the incoming game but I’d like to add animations and all kind of stuff. Sooo saying less any reliable web page to download mods?
