Can the sniper scope zoom in?

I was wondering is there anyway to zoom in when you are using the sniper scope? I mean the standard zoom is like 1X and if you are trying to kill something from far way it isn't very effective.

Because xray engine has ballistics. Penetration and such. Stronger bullets = heavier. Mostly. 9x18 bullets are slow and sniper rifle ammo is pretty much slow. You must like shoot a few metres earlier than the person

yes I know how to lead a target. What I'm talking about is how it is annoying that you can't zoom in on a persons head or chest (heart) for a definite head or chest kill. It's also annoying that sometimes take two or three shots with a sniper rifle to kill someone. The purpose of a sniper rifle is to drop some one dead with one well aimed shot (maybe two depending on enemy armor) from a distance and you can't really do that.

Are you playing vanilla or a modded version?
If you are playing a mod, for example Misery mod 2.1.1, you will need to upgrade your scope s othat it can be adjustable! Try visiting the mechanics and see if that upgrade is possible.

If vanilla is just the plain unedited, un modded version than that. How do you get misery mod?

In vanilla there are different scopes, some are not very good but some are. You can upgrade the scopes of some rifles for a greater magnification but iirc some of them are broken in vanilla and the upgraded magnification wont work. Anyway in vanilla you will find rifles with decent scopes, have to have a bit of patience though, the more you play, better weapons you will find.
As for Misery, i suggest you finish the vanilla first. Misery is based on excessive difficulty and harsh survival, also the graphical improvements will put the hardware to a harsh test and as any mod, its less stable than the vanilla and more buggy.

Seriously though, i was thinking the same as you when i went in, 10 minutes later i was cussing like a drunken sailor with plenty of "wtf is this sh*t" in between the more consistent cussing.

I would wish you luck like the guy above, but its not luck that you will need, you need perseverence and patience to learn how things work, its worth it though, great mod.

I first went with Misery as soon as i finished vanilla. Went with the sniper since all the stats looked nice like most of you i recon... Spawned near that lake and it took me a good 15 minutes to rage quit it. I remember there was this one pseudodog just constantly killing me i didnt even know whats going on! Telling you now, friend, you best forget all the tactics and strategies you had in vanilla - they are not gonna work. You are gonna die and after that you'll die some more, in the meantime some computer hardware might get broken, some mouses replaced, a few swear words exchanged with the monitor but if you stick through it all and not abandon - you will have some of the best gaming moments in this mod, as I sure have :D
