S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Call of Pripyat

What is the SGM mod?
I haven't played STALKER:COP in forever. A while ago, I tried to spice it up with MISERY, but that mod just made the game punishing. Not Dark Souls -prepare to die- punishing, but -trekking overencumbered across the map to sell 20+ guns I got in a gunfight that wasted most of my gear/medicine, almost dying a dozen times on the way, and still not having enough money to buy bread- punishing. In short, I lost my appetite for modding the game.

I think I saw SGM on a mod site, but paid it no mind. I'd definitely love to give STALKER mods another try, and wanted to know if SGM is any good. What I am wondering is, what changes does this mod make?

A mod.
It's kinda cancerous, everyone spams like 3 granade at you at once, I hardly completed the very first fight.

I decided to get SGM, about 2 minutes in I found an option to disable NPC grenades

Its an epic mod that adds alot to the game like the maps from pervious stalker games and missions to go with them. i would suggest getting the albor aka enot edition as it adds alot more guns. http://sigerous.ru/forum/15-3620-1&usg=ALkJrhiW8gIIfyuNHxixSWj_x0HTVk7mIA

SGM adds the following maps:
* Cordon , Dark Forest and Agroprom from Shadow of Chernobyl
* and the Marshes map from Clear Sky

The game is a lot more challenging as :
* there are a hell of a lot more anomalies, so be careful when exploring
* enemies can spot you from further away
* enemies have better accuracy , so cover is essential in most cases
* there are more mutants
* fog can be a real problem, as you can't see the enemy, yet the enemy AI ignores the fog

If you are having problems with the first task - clearing out the village of bandits - there is an easy, if cheesy way of doing it fairly safely.
( Save constantly is essential , not just quick saves. )
Walk up the road and stay to the right until you get to the intersection then slowly crouch walk towards the bus. Don't go into the village , but stay at the top near the intersection where you are just out of spotting range.
Snipe with your pistol from a distance and make sure you run forward quickly to scavenge from any corpses nearby, otherwise the corpses will be empty.
With a silenced pistol you can snipe from the low ridge next to the village , but it's a lot more dangerous as there are some dangerous anomalies along the ridge and some bad ones next to the stump which is the only decent cover on the top of the rise.


p.s. I suggest you mod your carry weight , so can loot more gear and that you mod the weapon wear rate as it is still way too high.

Sounds like an awesome mod. Too many cool mods not enough time...can't get enough of the Zone..
