Call of Chernobyl Tools
Seriously where the hell are the basic tools at? I've found two sets of advanced but not a single set of basic tools. Forrestor is a greedy prick and I'd really rather stop giving the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ cash unless I need tier 3's. Anyone found any in the world or in a stash that doesn't require a random spawn? I don't mind needing a stash location but I find it ridiculous that the first stash I always get on a duty playthrough ends up being a stash with advanced tools yet I can't get a single stash with basics >_<

I literally have no idea where to find them, I never got one

How does tool searching work in this mod? I saw on the loading screen tips that tools are found in stashes that you get the location as reward for finishing missions.
Is that the only way? Or are there tools to be found randomly, and if thats the case, is there any rhyme and reason to it or you just search for them throughout the whole stalker world?

Honestly you USED to be able to buy the basic set of tools from almost any trader, had to find the second tier in stashes given from missions, and the third was ONLY able to be done by Forrestor.

In this build, you HAVE to find them in stashes, they appear to not spawn anywhere else which is REALLY annoying. You can't just start searching stashes either, they appear to not show until you get the coordinates a la Shadow Of Chernobyl.

Yeah i noticed stashes are mostly empty, so i thought it was like SoC but nope, i did find quite a few items in non-marked stashes, mostly in Red Forest and Army Warehouses.
Random stashes seem to be very rare compared to other mods, but they are still there, or maybe its a subjective impression given i have the tendency to look in the many places i already know to contain stashes from the many other mods i played :P

I have found some stashes with small amounts of goodies, ( ammo, bandages, food, etc ) but nothing substantial. Regardless the system for handling the tool distribution is rather......frustrating >_<

Yeah, i guess you are right but its a work in progress, im sure many more tweaks will come if the team will continue their work on this mod, seems like a huge project to make this big world work in a coherent way that is worth playing through.
So far to me it looks like its a great improvement over the release version of CoC.
Its very nice to see that there are still modders who care about Stalker enough to work on big project mods, when everything else seems more or less abandoned or in an undecided state.

Now to another question. Did you follow the "main story" mission? Because i didnt, im like 30 hrs in this mod and just dilly dallied in a few areas, looting and fighting and looting and fighting.
Is it worth it to go with the main story, or the purpose of the mod is to freeplay all you want and the main story is just a little extra?

Honestly from what I understand the main " story " is rather disconnected right now. It uses elements from all three games to tell the story and I haven't given it a second glance just yet. I like the free roam stuff in CoC but I may give it a go again later.

I got a Basic Tool kit from a non-marked stash today. 1.4.10.

If you stopped using addons with outdated trader files you would realize they sell basic tools.

How about you play your game the way you want to and we will do the same? Passive aggressiveness is infantile so please refrain from doing so in the future.

Also I'd just like to point out, in 1.3 AO had the buyable toolkits for the technicians, so not only are you being a jerk, you're also wrong.

You go on the Steam forums too? :D Usually I talk to you on the Stalker Reddit or the Moddb forums and CoC page.

Personally im not using any addon, its just the 1.4 version from moddb, and so far no trader sells upgrade tools, just the repair tools for armor and weapons.
Also the vast majority of the anomalies are "sterile", no artifacts there ever.
Thinking to reinstall, maybe something screwed up.

I wonder if you are aware that Alundaio is the creator of this mod, and also he worked on many major mods, including Misery. He is a very talented and respected member of the mod community....and thats pretty much an understatement because he is more than that.
Alundaio's comment was not the best, but you overreacted quite a bit.

I don't really care to be quite honest. If you conduct yourself like that and expect to get respect from someone else then you are a self righteous ego maniac and need to lose the attitude. Doesn't matter what position you hold you deserve no more nor no less respect than the common man. When he chose to be a passive aggressive jerk, he lost my respect that I choose to allow everyone I speak to. If me being honest and calling it the way things are is over reacting, then you need to experience life a bit and harden up.

If anything I was very polite and asked him to refrain from doing so in the future, then pointed out why he was incorrect. Please stop brown nosing mod authors. They are people no different from anyone else. Just because they take the time to do certain things doesn't make them a genius or pinnacles of humanity. Appreciate the work, but realize they are nothing more than human and should be treated thusly.

@PsychoMantis

Im sorry if I appear aggressive towards you, but respect for certain actions and accomplishments has been apart of human nature for quite some time. Everyone deserves respect, but you shouldn't say that positive accomplishments don't contribute to it. Also you are almost contradicting yourself because if you can't treat someone with respect then I don't understand why you expect respect back. So before you say that someone wasn't respecting you, treat them with some respect first.
