Ye as others mentioned you can go with just ZULU all those other dudes are optional.

To answer your other question, you can technically join Duty or Freedom but it requires you to have kept Morgan's PDA which is obtained right near the start of the game at the Ranger Station with the scripted quest to ambush the transaction.

It's ok i was able to help Strider in the Monolith Survivor mission by doing a mission from the scientists, where you use a svarog detector and point it to the sky at the oval complex, once done, Duty soldiers drop from the sky w/ Gen Tachenko, i picked up his PDA and gave it to the Duty boss. He then agreed to help Strider et al. Thanks anyway for the reply. Much appreciated.

Hello,
I had a lot of trouble getting him in as well, after doing nearly everything else in the area.
So here's what worked for me, finally, after hours and 2 days of researching.
What needed to click for me, was killing the chimera, which was also my last quest for the Yanov station.
Before that, I did mixed jobs for Duty/Freedom, but in the end i decided to stick with freedom, so all I gave them is 1 PDA (Teschenko's i think), also let them guard for scientists, but this still wasn't enough. I had to kill the chimera, which turned the remainder of the Yanov station to friendly(green), including Duty members and then Freedom accepted to give them a try.

Thanks, i did a quest from Dr. Hermann about freeing Duty men trapped by an anomaly in the sky, that when they fell to the ground one of them had Tachenko's PDA wc i gave to the Duty boss at Yanov. He helped Strider then.

Dang lol I knew I shouldn't have sold that PDA. I remembered it did something but it's been so long. Meh I'm going bandit anyways so no need I guess.

you want strider, ok, first: do jobs for freedom, remember the starlker that lie to everyone, tell loki, freedom will kill him, second, ask to recruit the monolit soldiers, third sell the pda to freedom, thats all
