Mod recommendations
Hello stalkers,

I'm picking up CoP back after many years I'm looking for some mods.

Anomaly caught my eye as it seems to be the most recent and most advanced, and I understand it's sorta like CoC which I have played (and adored)

But currently I'm looking for a good vanilla-I-just-want-the-core-game-with-nice-graphics-flavored type of mod.

If you only want nice graphics, there's a number to choose from.

Remake 3 is probably pound for pound the best looking one. It's so intensive it actually gives me lag and stutters to use it, the only Stalker mod really ever to do so.

If you want something less intensive, try the Absolute Series i.e Atmosfear 3, Absolute Nature 4, Absolute Structures, and Absolute Scopes.

If you want some pretty guns, try STcop 3.4, remove Absolute Scopes, and run the rest of the absolute series. That's my go-to experience for STALKER. Vanilla questline and story with great gunplay and good looking maps.

A link list will magically appear below once I've hunted down all the links:

Remake 3: https://www.moddb.com/mods/remake/downloads/remake-3

Atmosfear: https://www.moddb.com/mods/atmosfear-for-call-of-pripyat

Absolute Nature: https://www.moddb.com/mods/atmosfear-for-call-of-pripyat/addons/absolute-nature-4

Absolute Structures: https://www.moddb.com/mods/atmosfear-for-call-of-pripyat/addons/absolute-structures-texture-pack

Absolute Scopes: https://www.moddb.com/games/stalker-call-of-pripyat/addons/absolute-scopes-texture-pack-v1-1

STcop 3.4 (actual mod is in English): https://stalker-mods.su/load/stalker_cop/stalker_zov_pripjati/stcop_weapon_pack_3_4/1-1-0-5054
------
For ease in modding, use JSGME: https://www.moddb.com/mods/call-of-chernobyl/downloads/jsgme

It allows you to put mods in a separate folder and activate/deactive at will, without permanently overwriting game files.

It can be a bit complicated to use as the Absolute series come with auto installers, so add me if you need help.

The following combinations are valid:

Remake 3 is standalone. Don't apply anything else if you install Remake 3.

Absolute Series should be installed in this order:

Atmosfear, Absolute Nature, Absolute Structures, Absolute Scopes

If you want to use STcop, you can use it by itself, or with the absolute series.

Either run STcop on it's own, or do

Atmosfear, Absolute Nature, Absolute Structure, STcop 3.4, STcop Atmosfear Compatability Patch (found on the same page as the STcop download).

Absolute Scopes is pointless to use with STcop as it just gets overwritten or fights STcop for graphics.

Hey man thanks for the suggestions! I will check them out and add you (mainly 'cause I don't have friends in steam). I remember playing complete for SoC but a lot of folks have told me it's buggy af.

I also want to try misery, but apparently the damage balance is broken?

So the complete mods are not a bad place to start, they do have some useful tools, but they do have a few bugs, and they make the games much easier overall. It would be better to use the Reclamation Projects for each game that are massive unofficial patches of bugfixes.

As for Misery, you'll find that people are split. It is without a doubt a punishing experience, and many people consider it far, far too unforgiving, myself among them. But there are those that enjoy a brown color palette and guns breaking after 20 shots. (I exaggerate but not by much)

Just what I was looking for, thanks man!

I will go for the most recent and easiest to install. Right now I'm going through a vanilla run for old times' sake and I had forgotten that stalker is the best FPS ever.
