MISERY 2.1 Degtyarev's starting gear secret stash found!
You guys ever wondered how the character, a USS special ops major could end up in the zone with no gear at all (the black road start)?
The thing is, he didn't. Somebody dropped him an AMAZING starting gear stash, just 50m from his starting location. They just forgot to tell poor Degtyarev of it.

What I'm about to show you is a megaspoiler. Since I know many of you love the hobo phase in the beginning, this stash would ruin it for you. Don't read any further if you are one of them.

... ... ...

The stash is extremely well hidden in a so called "pixel stash" meaning you have to aim at the exact right pixel to be able to access it.

It is located at the edge of the map just north of the sawmill near some bushes.
It contains among others, a bulat armor, a sphere helmet with nvg, an AEK 971 with 30 or 60 rounds, a fileld repair kit x 4, meds and food.
Unfortumately I forgot to take a print screen but ill post a video from another guy who found it where he explains how to find the stash (and you'll also see what's in it).
https://youtu.be/JJ28I4UR1mM

Be aware it is still extremely hard to find, I nearly gave up thinking it a hoax or something that TAZ added to misery, but it was there for me in vanilla Misery 2.1.1. You have to find that very pixel (for me it was white) but its black in his video.
If you guys have trouble finding it or if the link to the video is broken I might make a video on my own.
Anyways, a big thank you to the guy who posted it on youtube.

Now I consider myself an experienced misery stalker, but I've never found a stash like this before. That's why I'm so excited and have to share it. Maybe some of you stash hunters haven't found this one yet either.

Good luck luck stashkers!

Yep found it. Too bad all my gear is better lol. :steamhappy:
The key for me was looking for the bush with the bent branch on the right.

check out the other classes if interested. They are all in the same general area.

My god it actually exists.

It even comes with a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ note saying it is indeed his gear.

I wonder how more of these stashes exist? There's absolutely no way you could ever know they were there... how anyone managed to find this stash is beyond my comprehension. Maybe a dev told someone.

Most likely they looked into the files and found the locations of stashes.

Or noclipped.

So, if the only answer to how somebody could find a stash is "They must have cheated!", why have a stash in game in the first place?

A mystery for the ages.

Remind me on a more serious "Gamers be gamers" note. Does holding down the use button not make the names of close by objects pop up (or auto pick up objects) in Misery?

A lot of people have played the old versions to death, and with or without drastic map changes there is only so much map to go around. Less so when you consider locations ever intended for the player to even access through any means.

The bigger surprise should be that it took this long. Particularly with it being in that area listed in the spoiler. Unrealistic pixel hunt setup or not that's hardly an obscure area. An area most players will go to relativly early in the game, is the place that gets "Must have cheated"?

The bigger surprise should be that it took this long. Espesially with the spoilerd location rather than some deliberatly obtuse ass end of nowhere shoot it off a support pillar style location.

You're seriously considering a spot in THAT area, "Must have cheated"?

I have no idea why they placed the stash...But I just downloaded 2.1.1 to get it. XD It's amazing.

I bet the devs put that stash in for themselves, so they can get to bugtesting or whatever more quickly.

If that is for realsies true, then that has got to be one of the most restrained debug goodies I have ever, EVER heard of.

Like, wow. Is Misery secretly easier than unmodded CoP if that's the intended for Dev cheating OP for players to know even exists stash?

Well, it's clearly not intended for players to normally ever find. But the devs put it in anyway. So it has to be for themselves to find, because the contents of the stash are so ludicrously valuable that it basically allows you to skip the entire "hobo" stage. I'd actually say it's not restrained at all.

Skipping the hobo stage means being able to pay for you toys and keep them fed, that goes even for vanilla unmodded.

When the devs are saying in the other thread how even if you find a cool gun early, you won't be able to find ammo for it... Yeah, that stash isn't going far if you aren't already able to maintain your prize.

Flashbacks to stumbling across the SVD stash in vanilla.
"Oh sweet, a sniper rifle! and it came with some bullets"
*Five minutes later*
"Owl I'm out of bullets... oh you are not selling any of those right now? Hey Cardan I want to fix this thing-it costs that much? Yeah this is going in my stash right now."

Possibly moved at most, at least (Coulda sworn I read something about random stash locations? Or mayve that was for another type of stash)

You don't get the same hidden nintendo secrets cred if you remove said secrets entirelty, after all.

Did you actually see the stash in the video? Not only is the best helmet in the game in it as well as one of the best armored suits, but the gun is an AK that fires standard, cheap rounds. All in perfect condition. The suit, helmet, and gun alone probably cost 200-300k rubles. This single damn stash can single-handedly bring you through Pripyat, and you can find it within a minute of starting the game.

How can you possibly say that this stash isn't "going far?"

And in the other thread, that dev is overblowing it. It costs way more to repair a gun to functioning status than it does to buy ammo for it and maintain it. Sniper bullets are an exception, but I never use a sniper anyway.
