Help with performance in the 64x engine (anomaly)
So I tried anomaly for the first time today, it has some pretty interesting features I'd love to try out... but it runs like absolute A S S for me. I hear people saying it has improved performance, so what's going wrong for me? I can play the vanilla games on max settings without more stuttering than it gets on the low settings anyways, I can play games like Doom 2016 on max settings aswell.

Anomoly has far higher base requirements in spite of the 64-bit engine.

Alot of the options force the engine past its limits. SO dont use max settings and tinker with them till you find a nice balance.

Yeah thing is, when I tried it I had to lower it to a blurry mess akin to the original half-life using the OpenGL renderer. And that's just to run it close to what the vanilla Stalkers run like on max settings.

But I'll try to tinker some and see if I can find anything specific which might be tanking it.
I didnt realize it a few days ago but I begun replaying Metro 2033 redux after I made this thread, I can max that game except for SSAA which makes the game chug like crazy, while also not really affecting its look all that much. So perhaps it is some option similiar to that which is screwing things up.

HBAO and god rays are things to look out for.

Anomaly is a bit more GPU stressfull than the base games. Though if you have a decent GPU you will get overall better performance.

What are your specs mate? I've got a 1070 and running the game max settings at 2K res, I rarely get stutters with this mod though I do have it installed on an SSD. Obviously, an SSD can make anything run better.

I mean, you could always try running it in a scaled down resolution and upping the AA

1050 Ti, 16 GB ram, and yes, on an SSD. I use 1920x1200 res.

CPU? What settings is the game running at? A 1050TI is a good gpu

Intel Core i5-7400 3.00 Ghz per core, but this game only uses one core I believe.

That's a good CPU too. Odd.

Potato your graphics to absolute minimum. See if it works then (If it doesnt then something else is wrong) Then slowely raise them one at a time until you find the one that is causing poor performance.

Idk if anomaly has a new engine to even apply AA but i know it was a setting that did nothing in most other mods of stalker. Alot of mods simply push the engine too far and tax it too hard. Trying to impliment things like ENB, Sun Shadows, Taller thicker grass. The engine was never even designed for certain settings that are included in the advanced options tab.

Its almost as if they put all those maximums in there and think " maybe someday someones PC can run all this". When in reality they are overloading the engine itself and it has nothing to do with the power of peoples PCs.

Notice that some sliders will have 16+ slots from minumum to maximum and some have like 4. Some major culprits to performance are ENB, Vision Distance, Grass Height, Everything and anything to do with SUN settings, Lighting Distance, Shadows, Water effects. Also DX9, 10 and 11 are the biggest make or break settings for alot of people. Some people can run only one of these light rendering settings so try all 3.
