CoC/SoC fsgame.ltx thing is broken
I was trying to mod my CoC but not one mod would work even if I put it onto my gamedata folder, and I heard that you had to change something from false to true in your fsgame.ltx thing with notepad. So, after changing it, the icon of fsgame was and is still a notepad yet the application says LTX so I have no clue how to fix that. Now everytime I try to run either SoC or CoC it brings up "Cannot open file "fxgame.ltx". Check your working folder." and shuts down. I really need some help cause every guide I've found hasn't been able to fix it and I genuinely like playing CoC. I've tried finding the /bin thing in properties too but its not even there so that doesn't work

I was able to replicate this. I launched CoC and it loaded fine but when I renamed the fsgame file to fsgame.txt the file type remained LTX but I got the error "Cannot open file fsgame.ltx. Check your working folder."

I right clicked on the fsgame file and renamed it to just fsgame and the game then launched again. Try that and If addons to CoC are still not working make sure the line game_data is true|true so any changes you make in the gamedata folder is detected.

$game_data$ = true| true| $fs_root$| gamedata\

Edit: apologies as I kept spelling fsgame as fxgame in error so have corrected this.

I just realised COC had the problem still, so even though it was already named "fxgame" i just named it to that again, and it actually worked, thanks man :)

This is a good CoC addon to test because it's easy to install and quick to test. Just shoot the nearest person and see if you can loot them.

Use notepad++ to edit the file instead of trying to change the format or file association. It's much easier and cleaner to use.

Notepad++ is amazing freeware. A must have when editing text files and Stalker has a lot of config files in a readable text format.

Absolutely, I use to edit the game files in notepad years ago before I knew about notepad++. I like to play around with settings a lot and it makes it very easy to keep track of all the changes you've made to a file.
