Getting Back To Pripyat Free
Playing COP. I've completed the "Road To Pripyat" mission, found the "Unidentified Weapon" and other subsequent missions. Left Pripyat, went back to Yanov and Zaton etc.

Need to get back to Pripyat for another mission. Is there a way to get there without having to pay Garry $5,000? That's crazy.

In the base game? nope you always have to pay Gary to get to Pripyat. It may seem like a crazy oversight but you gotta understand that at this point in the game most players have more money on them than they have things to spend it on. It's only a problem if you are speed running the game or if you want to own an entire fully upgraded arsenal of every weapon and suit in the game.

If you can't be dealing with that, im sure there is a mod out there somewhere which removes the travel costs from both gary and guide.

Thanks. Spent a whole bunch of money on weapon upgrades just before seeing Gary for the first time. So after learning of the amount, I was just a bit put off of having spend MORE money. Oh well. It is what it is.

I mean you can go back through the underground section but ive heard that it gets populated with an insane amount of mutants after you first clear it. YOu would end up spending more money on ammo and grenades to kill these mutants than the 5g you have to pay Gary.

Was some guy on hear recently who said he always traveled through the underground to get back and forth and never payed the guide. I heard the amount of mutants that can spawn down there is insane tho. something like 5 poltergeists, chimeras, burrers, etc every time.

You can't in the base game. The lift breaks after the first time it's used, You can even talk to Nitro about how he wont be able to fix it, saying that he was surprised it even worked the first time. The ungerground pass is a 1 time trip, from then on you always have to pay Gary a fee to take you back to Pripyat ... you can shave 1k off the 5k travel cost if you travel from Zaton straight to Pripyat (with an implied change over at Yanov off screen) for some reason but thats it, Gary does not charge you to leave Pripyat though so you'll never be stuck there ... at least not till the final mission.

Yeah the lift was powered by the Jupiter plant BACKUP generator which was on its last legs.

Nitro said if it crapped out half way there was no way of bringing you back, its one of the many aspects that made this--as Zulu called it-- a "suicide mission".

If you need money just do some artifact hunting, I assume you have a svarog. Should not be hard to put together a measly 5K.

Actually, this would be pretty cool.

Like an ultra hard extra zone. Maybe fill it with anomolies, radiaton and psy damage. But also fill it with artifacts?

I have personally never tried it and yeah the "Lift breaks" but i wonder if it is still possible to at least travel back from Pripyat. Im almost certain someone was telling me they prefered doing it for the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ down there. I bet none of us have actually tried. Something to experiment with on my next playthrough.

By all means try for yourself, but I have attempted to go back from Pripyat, the tunnel is caved in when you go down the ladder (so it does not load the next map). I'd almost be willing to lay money on said person to have been playing a modded version of the game, CoC for example allows you to travel through the underpass freely and is absolutely full of nasties.
