Anomaly/Last Day Tips
Having not even finished a Stalker game yet, I've jumped into the modding scene. Having installed Dead Air then Call of Chernobyl, I felt a bit underwhelmed after the first hour on each. Probably because of all the crashing. I then stumbled upon the Anomaly mod which had all that I had desired on the front page: new textures, 64bit engine, free roam gameplay, and difficulty.

What I had not anticipated was the sheer number of items, complex economy, and general maintenance you'll have to perform as a Stalker. I've read that it is a combination of mods based off the Last Day mod which was based off Call of Misery. It does not seem like there is a guide to the mod like there is for Misery. What I'm searching for are some tips for the Anomaly mod for a beginner such as myself just starting out. I've barely left Cordon and am about 4 hours in.

Thus far, the combat has been manageable (save for the hidden mutants in tall grass) and I accidentally played the game on master for most of my time (Stalker difficulty preferred). I generally get this feeling of being lost, direction less. Everything is expensive and the quests I'm doing are barely paying for food. I have 2 guns in worthy condition but ammo for one. How do I go about getting myself out of the early stages?

Oh God the answer is so simple. Just follow the road map Last Day shows. And don't just start and then end it. If you really want to know, get Hunters Kit and a good knife, go hunting and get a ♥♥♥♥ ton of meat. Use cooking sets to cook the meat. Don't worry if it's too expenive or something like that, the pay off I usually get is usually 10 times the amount I put in.

Well I'm on my way with the cooking set but cooking can't be the only "road to riches" and that's pretty much all I've read for Last Day. I'm guessing your next statement is going to be "go scavenge off bodies after a firefight". You ever play Kenshi? Early game feels like Kenshi.

Aye mate, don't worry. The Mutant Hunts are great at the start and late game. But to get enough money to be able to get better equipment early on, mutants are the way to go. Easy to deal with and high reward if you know who to sell the parts and food to. Once you get out of the hobo phase and into a more stable place economically (say about 150,000 RU) then you are able to get better weapons when it comes to other stalkers and you can take on Contract Killing quests from a variaty of people. Those quests pay relatively well with most of the jobs giving me between 15,000 and 50,000 RU. But early on, I highly recommend mutant hunting. After that, everything is ezpz. I have full Exo Suit and Seva researched and I'm about to go into the CNPP for those pesky Documents that Doctor is so adament about. Well, as I've heard Sidorovich say to me many times, "Good Hunting Stalker."

Lol I may be underestimating how long a game of modded Shtalker lasts. That's some good information to go off n I appreciate it. I'll find/buy a good shotgun coming up soon then. I guess I prefer having guides for things like this not because I like being told what to do or the easy way through but it's good reading material while I'm "taking a break" from my busy life; keeps me invested I suppose.

Oh yes and Merry Huntings.
