Report a translation problem
the game has been reinstalled on another computer with the saves on the steam cloud.. that means the saved are corrupted who knows why

Edit it with a text editor like Notepad (you can use Wordpad, but you need to be careful not to change the file type and formatting). My understanding is the switch distance is how far away a script for an enemy behavior turns on. Lowering it greatly reduces the load on the CPU.
As Terry stated it's in the config file, you will see a series of numbers eg, 100,200,350 etc, change the first value and save. See how that goes.
Not that it will for sure work but it's a worth a try as it beats just gutting it all and giving up.
