Arsenal Overhaul Crashes
I've downloaded the mod Arsenal Overhaul for COP and so far haven't encountered any bugs, at least not until I tried traveling from Yanov Station to the Skadovsk and the game crashes everytime the loading screen ends (When the message saying "hit any key to continue" would appear). I checked the crash logs and couldn't find anything...

Arsenal Overhaul is the only mod I have installed. I've tried uninstalling both the mod, the game, the mod and the game at the same time, and making sure the game files were validated before applying the mod just to make sure. So far, no luck. Has anyone else encountered this problem or have an idea of how to solve it?

The engine has a finite number of objects it can handle. If you are a major hoarder, keeping too many things in your stash(s) can cause crashes mainly when changing maps. Try selling off some of the excess. You will generally have plenty of cash to buy anything you need later. The only thing I don't sell is AP ammo for weapons I expect to use later and one or two elite weapons that might be work in progress.

The bottom of your log would tell you what caused the crash. Take a look and post it. AO shouldnt cause any crashes by itself unless its installed incorrectly in most cases.

You didn't happen to install the " beard sells everything " optional file did you?

I did not install any of the optional addons... but i will check again just to make sure. I'm gonna try selling off the stuff in my stash then and seeing if that helps lol. The wierd thing about the log is that when I looked at it it was completely blank. I'm not sure if i was looking in the wrong spot, where I went was

Local Disk>Program files x86>Steam>steamapps>common>Stalker Call of Pripyat>_appdata_>logs> xray_user.log

I opened this with Notepad++ immedietly after the game crashed

There are oddball things that cause a crash too fast for the log to be saved. I most often encounter them when a buggy weapon animation is encountered. They are a pain to track down because it can be something stupid like just the idle animation or the gun twirl when it is holstered.

Tried selling off most things in my stash and no such luck. Since I cant get into Zaton, it seems the stash there is forever trapped with whatever I had in it. I did use Aresenal Overhaul on this save file only after reaching Yanov, could that be a problem since I had previously been unmodded in Zaton?

On crash, the logs seem to clear for some reason. I checked the logs before the crash and they were functioning normally, but upon trying to move areas the logs were cleared.

Yes, I advise anyone who adds a mod to start a new game. Just one weapon with a slightly different upgrade tree preexisting on one of the maps can cause crashes.

The logs reset when you start the game so you have to check them right after CTD. If you installed a mod post-game then that is most likely the problem. AO uses some custom animations and whatnot, so Ikandrb is probably right, your savegame is probably using a asset or animation that is now changed and/or incompatible with the new modded ones.

I have a stash in my bandit game with 100's of weapons and items in the stash so it seem crazy that weapons and items that arnt even being rendered in a stash list would cause the problem. The stash is just a list of numbers with thumbnails identifying the stuff inside and takes less memory than leaving them on the ground faik.

Alright, Welp thanks for helping me solve this lol

@Samsa Any object, no matter where it is saved uses the same amount of resources. This is why corpses must be removed from the maps so quickly. Xray uses pools of memory dedicated for certain purposes. Once you exceed the size of one of those pools, the game crashes. Unfortunately, even if you have 32Gb of DDR the game can only use about 2.5Gb. The save game system is flawed as well leading to gltiches like some items being downgraded when saved in a stash like scopes attached to weapons.
