i side with freedom, mainly because its easier to tell duty apart from the rest, freedom and stalkers all look the same to me (misery 2.1.1)
Duty -> Heavy Armor, Good against bullets, No pockets for artefact (only after upgrades), low-grade weapons (on start) - abakan, ....., pkm, groza.
Freedom -> Light Suits, better against anomalies, pockets for artefact, better weapons - mostly sniper types.

Duty -> cheaper upgrades at Janov
Freedom -> better prices and miscellany in shop

Freedom has also more holding territories than duty, it is because that duty members are mostly hunters, so they are not sticking in one place for long.

I am mostly for duty, because of the fighting and cheaper upgrades.

Svoboda bro! the hippies of the zone man! Understanding and coexistence with the zone man!

Usually go for freedom because when it comes to armor I have exoskeleton and bullat which are the best one. Duty doesn't have much fire power than freedom since freedom is the one use 5.56 mil stuff.
But I prefer man of balance though if you're wondering about achivement.

Duty got better armor for fighting but Freedom armor is better for hunting artifacts.

Man of Balance. For better Pripyat action against Monolith faction during post-campaign freeplay (Misery).

I don't really like Freedom much lore-wise. They are always bragging about saving The Zone and its creations, but Duty seem to be the ones working with Ecologists, transferring artifacts to them and doing other stuff. Huh, Freedom were hostile to Scientists during SoC, going against their own logic, damn weed smoking hippies. While I don't like Freedom, not a huge fan of Duty as well, mostly because of their paramilitary state and enforced code, but I like their ideals.

I honestly think they do have more fire power, since they are the ones having entire squads of dreadnoughts armed with PKMs (Clear Sky) and overall more durable equipment (huh, 5,56 rifles in such harsh environments don't look like a great idea)

Screw freedom DUTY ALL THE WAY. DEADLY ANOMALIES, DANGEROUS MUTANTS, ANARCHISTS AND BANDITS. NONE OF THEM WILL STOP DUTY ON ITS TRIUMPHANT MARCH, TOWARDS SAVING THE PLANET!

Yeah, but the better ones. Normal duty members always wear Abakan/AK or some shotgun sometimes. Expert members have groza, abakan or better shotgun and the Master ones have rpk and other heavy guns.

Best weapon of Freedom members is sniper rifle, which most of the time is useless for them, cause they are retarded :D

Joined freedom guys. Thanks for all the responses :D.
There is 3rd option , neutrality , i like freedom more , but i not side with ether on my play's
arottweiler Feb 10, 2017 @ 5:48pm
I never side with either because it makes it an easier life and I like to get man of balance and other neutral and peaceful achievements becuse it makes the game easier. I'm sure I got man of balance and still had Strider on the Jupter underground mission during a playthrough but can't see how that was possible now.

Freedom just no. While i ain't biggest fanboi of Duty I join them from time to time.
You can get Man of Balance and Strider. You can get trusted enough with either Duty or Freedom for them to accept Strider with 2 or 3 specific missions. You need 4 missions to side with Duty or Freedom.
Duty has Pkm's s which are op and don't jam much Evan with low durriability and duty has much better armour compared to the freedom hippis
