I don't mod. I consider the practice disgusting.
The guy at the counter (you should see him when you walk into the Skadovsk) is Beard. You can sell pratically anything to him. The trader named Owl (upstairs to the right) will give you more money than Beard for certain items such as 90-100% guns, but won't accept some items like rusty guns. Trading with random npcs is actually really bad for your economy. They sell stuff more expensive and buy things from you cheaper than traders.
What in particular about modding bugs you? Just curious. most people mod the ever living hell out of this game in particular...
Anyways, reguarding money:
Its good to do a little artifact hunting on the side, assuming you've scavved a echo locator or something. When you start you really dont find many especially valuable artifacts; but hey, it pays for the cheaper ammo and food, helping your jobs give you some extra net income. they respawn at an anomally after an emission.
reguarding repairs:
The best way to keep costs low is to prevent your weapon/armor from dipping too low in condition at all.
If you always keep it in the green and repair basically whenever you cash-in your loot at skadovsk or Yanov, ussually a repair session costs like 50-800 if its already in fantastic condition (plus, it never jams. thats always nice.)
the only time you really fix up a really damaged weapon is if it nearly fully-upgraded or replacements of a higher condition are hard to find.
About modding, I don't mind if other people mod single-player games. Doesn't affect me in the slightest. But I OCD heavily about playing games the way they were meant to played, "uncorrupted". It's one of my many personal failings, I guess.
I truly respect your opinion, but the S.T.A.L.K.E.R series has in my opinion some of the best mods ever made for a game. The list is endless and so are the possibilities. The mods for this series cover everything from graphical to difficulty. If you ever change your mind i HIGHLY suggest that you give them a try, you WONT be dissapointed. Good hunting stalker.
Call of Chernobyl and MISERY are two of the most popular.
Agreed. Im currently playing both. For me the stalker series is one that stays with you forever IF its the type of game that you like, its like no other.
Find group of stalkers or whatever group heading somewhere , and go with them , preferably help them fight and for little to no efford you get loot(they got infinite ammo so even hunting mutants is profitable a lot)
they die? kill whatever kiled them , and take all the loot
More often then not , its better to keep gorup alive , longer advanture/trip means they kill more stuff , meaning you use much less supplies , and less armor/wepaon repairs , also blood suckers are sightly easier when in big group like 4 or 6
that logic is not foolproof but...i played all stalker games , atleast twice(more often then not more then 4 times) , beat misery 3 times also , and normal prypyat twice
Second best way to make money: stashes , the more you remember , the easier is money
