How to find artifacts?
Haven't played in ages and have forgotten, I've got the bear detector, walk into an anomaly zone, press o to open my detector, I thought it was supposed to appear on the screeen but nope, walk aroundthe entire anomaly and nothing. Done this 7 times now.

Simple and dumb question: Are you wearing a detector? (not just in the inventory) because it is interesting that it do not show up. Without detector, you can walk around the anomaly 10 times and still you wont find nothing.

If you read my post you would see that yes I have my detector equipped and open.

I was thinking like the detector did not showed up. Then, you need to wait until Emission to make anomalies respawn artefacts. (Also, it is not 100% chance that any artefact appear)

And not every anomaly contains and artefact. Your Bear detector should show you location by the green light on it, which will show you the way you need to go. If there is any light green light, then there is not artefact.

So there is no artifact in ANY anomaly even right after an emission?

Here is how it works:
Anomolies will respawn in anomoly areas after an emession if you already collected an artifact in that area (Circle on the map)
You go into the white circle on your map, press O and take out your trash detector, if it starts to lighten/ making beeping sounds, follow the beeping sound.
The more intense the sounds and lightning becomes, the closer to the artifact.

IF you go into an area where artifacts has a chance of spawning, and your bear detector doesn't beep or make any other respond. there is no artifact or you are not in range yet.

Well, I've been into 32 circles, before emissions, and after emissions (multiple times), and my bear detector has never made a sound or had anything come up on the radar, nothing, in ANY anomaly zone.

Try go to Dredge Station or whatever it is called (The place where you are to collect the first artifact for Beard.
In the water, there are some pipes leading to the boat/floating building you can enter. There is two artifacts in the water, try see if you can find them. Beware of high Radiation an anomoly damage in that area.

In addition, get a better detector; go out and kill someone or find/buy one.

Idk if it has something to do with it. I play Vanilla myself without mods.

Why you did not mentioned it earlier. There asi still some problems with Artefacts and anomalies in CoC, also some NPC respawn points are not working

Because of the discussion i just read, i wanna clarify in a way everyone understands (specifically new Stalkers)... if you're playing VANILLA "Call of Pripyat" (UNmodded) and you don't have any luck finding artifacts, here's the things to keep in mind:

1. Anomalies respawn artifacts after each emission.

2. Make sure to be 1st on site! Ever noticed how NPC's high-tail it THE MOMENT an emission ends? That's cuz their programming makes them "want" to be the 1st on site so they can get the most. So whenever an emission ends, you make sure to haul-ass for the closest anomaly to you.

3. Make sure to always use the latest available detector - the better it is, the easier it gets to find the artifacts.

Hope that helps.

This thread is literally over 5 years old, it wasn't being discussed. But okay.

yeah, i noticed, but it couldn't hurt... i mean i got into the game recently and figured why not tell everyone what i've found in a few simple words :D who knows... a bunch of new players might get into it tomorrow, right?

Best advice to any new player of vanilla CoP is to never accept artefact hunting missions from Beard because it creates a race against other stalkers which is unnecessary. Collect artefacts and stock pile them at the Skadosvk. Only accept a mission to find a particular artefact from Beard when you have it stored there.

It's easy money but only if you're prepared for entering the various anomaly fields. Always carry 20+ medkits and plenty of bandages and be prepared to use them when you get zapped. USE YOUR HOTKEYS. The cost of 20 medkits is nothing compared to what you can earn from the artefacts you harvest using those medkits. Quicksave is also essential.
