What I look for in a racing simulator is immersion and a credible driving experience. KRP gives you that for sure. Of course it's a simulator and not the most user friendly one, so you better know your hardware and how to configure that sort of things, but I like it's customization abilities. Easy enough to setup steering, pedals and triple screen rig. If you're not too techy tho, it could be a bit of a struggle.

Truth is, Kart Racing Pro is off to a bit of a rough start. Multiplayer is apparently not working and it's the only way to be on track with something else than your own ghost. The tracks are nice but there aren't enough of them. The lack of the Rotax models is not so nice but I can understand license issues and there's a good enough variety of karts. I'd like to see a few four strokes added tho.

I'm tempted to say that Automobilista does it as good or even better. For similar money you get a whole, very nice, racing simulator.

But if you're into proper karting, this one has better karting oriented setups and I like the feel a bit better. Yes the tires are a bit too grippy and the kart won't slide around enough, even on hard tires but that's fixable. There's a karting atmosphere to this sim and that's why I don't regret spending my money on something that has problems because I can see what it can be and I'm hoping it gets there.

I think the price is very steep for such a rough around the edges package. I just hope it gets worked on enough and that content is added. The potential is there for sure and I hope the good money people have thrown in will help the developper push it forward.

If you're not a hardcore sim racing fan, that's not a game for you.
If you are, well, add it to your watch list. And if you can spare forty bucks, it's fun enough to drive and I'm sure it'll help get it fixed real soon.

So far so good.
Since it's only one guy who developed it, I have to say good job!
Physics and graphics are ok. Calibration for my wheel and pedals worked well. 5760x1080 resolution is supported as well as VR Headsets.
This game has a lot of potential for multiplayer racing. Hope it will receive constant support by dev and modders.
More tracks are needed!

IMPORTANT NOTE BEFORE BUYING: If you are getting this game and expecting to hop online and get first place with no knowledge of kart racing. Then you would be wrong. First and formost this game is for kart racers or people interested in karting to experience the most immersive racing. And on the simulation side of the game you won't find anything like it. It is 100% best kart game I have played and most realistic. (coming from a kart racer myself) But right now there is little to no people playing on servers. So if you do expect to do races on servers make sure you have friends to race with. Because you won't find any just sitting around.
So yes I do recomend this game for kart racers or people that are that big of fans of karting. If not DONT GET IT!

Very realistic and immersive Go Kart racing simulator in VR. Good graphics, good sound effects, full support for steering wheels and force feedback, realistic kart handling and the sense of speed is awesome playing this in Virtual Reality. So far I have only tested Kart Racing Pro in VR and single player mode doing some "test races" against a ghost kart (my last lap performance), and all I can say is that this game has loads of potential. Here are some short hook-points:

Graphics:
Polished and good graphics, maybe not the best I have seen in a VR racing game, but still very pleasing. Kart models and my VR-body is very detailed. Quite sharp in VR, but still needs some AA and supersampling to get sharp view on distance and horizon. Weather effects are awesome, especially rain!

PC performance:
I turned up the SteamVR supersampling to 1.4x, and in-game Anti Aliasing to 4x and all quality settings on max, and could still play without any frame loss and re-projection even when recording the gameplay with OBS at the same time. Im using a GTX 1080 Ti, so I assume that with slighly lower SS, you could play this on at least a 980 Ti or even 980 without reprojection. The rainy weather conditions was little bit more PC demanding, but still no problems at all for me. Dont know how the game performs when you have - lets say - 10 opponent karts on the track, but the graphical settings can be adjusted/optimized a lot to meet your PC-setup.

Controller support:
You have racing wheel support (my Logitech G27 worked perfectly with Force feedback) but you can also play with gamepads, keyboard or joystick etc

Physics & engine:
This is a Kart Simulator and not a simple VR game, so expect it to be quite difficult and challenging from start, especially in though weather conditions. Very nice kart handling and even though Im not a racing pro gamer and dont drive Go Karts much, I still think it feels very realistic. The cars responds just like expected in every turn and the force feedback really reacts on every little detail like bumps, tire movement, vibrations etc. There are loads of settings, tunings and customizations available, so this Simulator is perfect for you if you really are into advanced Kart Racing.

Cars & Tracks:
Many different Karts available from various categories, and great variation! There are around 10 or 11 Tracks available at the moment and they are all different.

Multiplayer:
There is full Multiplayer support, but at the time testing I could not find any servers up or any guys to race against. I will save this one for later, and update this review when tested.

Value:
Well, if you are into racing simulators and enjoy Go Kart, then the game is probably worth every penny for you. If you are more of a arcade racing gamer, maybe you should look somewhere else. For me it felt quite expensive. 25-30 bucks would be a better price tag, at least during launch. But of course, this is an advanced simulator, so I fully understand why its pricey as well...

The NOT SO GOOD-stuff:
- There is no full room-scale support, so you cannot move around your head freely forward/backward and to the sides (check my video and I explain this in detail).
- No singleplayer VS computer mode yet, so you can only play against yourself (ghost car) in singleplayer, for now at least.
- Not many multiplayer players yet, so the servers may be empty or non-existing now in the beginning.
- Quite weird that you need to press "CTRL + R" to align your VR view in car. I cannot see this option in the menus of the game either (quite confusing, check my video for more info about this)

All in all, a great Kart Racing simulator that I can recommend to all racing fanatics and hardcore racing gamers - you will probably love this one!

I never write reviews, but I feel that there's some misconception about this game in some of the negative reviews. I bought this game in beta in 2012 so I have tons more hours invested in it than my Steam profile shows.

Yes, this game has been in development forever, but my understanding is that PiBoSo is literally a one man shop. When you consider that, it's pretty amazing how great this game is.

This game to me is all about the physics of driving the kart, and that's where it shines. I don't have real life karting experience, so I can't speak to that, but I have played just about every sim racing game under the sun and these are the best karts I have ever driven... period. I would say rFactor 2 karts are a close 2nd, but I'd still give KRP the edge.

Sure there is no AI, no career mode, no fancy menus... there's not even many online servers going at all, but hopefully that will change now that it's been released to Steam and word starts to get out. It would be great to see a community develop online for this game.

To people saying there is no wheel support, I don't know what you are experiencing, but my Fanatec CSR works flawlessly. You have to calibrate the wheel on the first Input screen (Calibration button top left) before you can set the controls up. And there are plenty of configuration options to get the controls just how you want them.

Plus since the game has been around so long in beta, there are already tons of mod tracks, karts, helmets, paint schemes, etc. available for free. And they are very easy to install.

I highly recommend this game if you are a sim racer or are looking to get into sim racing. This is a great place to start. If you are looking for anything other than that, you will likely be disappointed.

kart racing pro is a great game, with a relatively active playerbase. but man either some people don't know the basics of computers or are just don't understand how to do research. since this games playerbase is becoming younger and younger as we speak, the game is being filled with cadet drivers who don't know how to do their own research and always ask the same questions. i also find some people in the community are stubborn. (at least on the games' discord server, no offence)

don't let that discourage you though, the game is incredible in simulating kart racing. there are great mods that can be found on the simkartmodding forums that simulate other engine classes. like rotax, rok gp, or even lo206.

the game has a small but dedicated community that either love or race karts.

i will warn you though, you will have a lot of trouble with the game crashing a lot, as something even as simple as the host resetting the session while you are on track crashes the game. and also the cache is broken so you need to type some code into your global.ini file in your documents just for you to join lobbies with modded karts.

also, a lot of people don't realize this, this game does not have and most likely wont have ai. sorry.

if you are fine with mainly lapping by yourself and racing online, go for it. if you want to race with ai and not play much online, kartsim for rfactor 2 would be better for that. (kartkraft is in an abandoned state.)
