blue flag is one of the many flags in racing. if a car is going to slow and about to be lapped often the race officials will 'blue flag' that car which basically is ordering them to move over and let the race leaders lap them without impeding them.

off lead lap cars are not allowed to defend and try to block cars that are lapping them, other wise you could just leave your worse driver back in the back and try to use them as a rolling rode block to slow down other cars by blocking them.
